Are you a "last poster"/"thread killer"?

Do you find yourself often to be the last poster in any topic? If so, why do you think that is the case?

    Personally I think I
    1. have often "missed the boat" (the interest in that topic has died out)
    2. am too abstruse in my posts ("TL;DR")
    3. still haven't taken the time to verify my profile

    4. the topic isn't popular enough.

(This post will serve as an example of that) icon_lol.gif

    5) You made a point and guys are sitting back mulling it over. I've often done that with your posts.

    ..and I'll bet there's a lot more than 5.

More often than not, I seem to be a thread killer. Use to wonder about it, but these days, I don't. Too many other things on my mind.

I think this topic could serve multiple purposes: to teach hypothesis testing and generation, statistical methods and how to improve the forum. One particular hypothesis that easily testable is that the older you are, the more likely your going to kill a thread.

You need to mine the data first. Write a script that counts the last poster in each thread and relates it to their total number of posts. I have a feeling I might show up as one of them...

It happens to me a lot. Usually because I figure the thread was already in it's death throws. Though sometimes it's because I say something so disgusting nobody wants to follow it. http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/1752398/

Reminds me of that Zen koan: If you meet the Buddha, kill him.
The thread is like the Buddha, and I have killed it.icon_lol.gif

Happens to me a lot too, but what gets me more, is, when the thread doesn't end after my post, but nobody comments on it. icon_mad.gificon_redface.gif

I feel this way often and probably a lot of other people do as well. I think it is probably that what I had to say wasn't really that relevant or I waited to post several pages into the thread and didn't bring anything new that hadn't already been said.

So close and yet so far...icon_lol.gif
    wiki on koan
"Kill the Buddha if the Buddha exists somewhere else. Kill the Buddha, because you should resume your own Buddha nature." One is only able to see a Buddha as he exists in separation from Buddha, the mind of the practitioner is thus still holding onto apparent duality.

I seem to have done that at times, and I assume it's usually a TL;DR thing (I get loquacious - I'm lefty and can't help it!) or just my bad sense of timing.

The only alternative is that I've been blocked and no one can see me. icon_neutral.gif
