Chuck and Larry is that new Adam Sandler film abuot two straight Brooklyn firefighters who use New York City's domestic partnership law to get benefits for whatever reason. Do anyo of you plan on seeing this? I am no fan of Adam Sandler, and Kevin James makes John Goodmen look hot. Hollywood tends to trivialize human lives, I'm sure this will be no different. I always shrink when Hollywood gets all Politically Correct. To be honest, I'm more comfortable with more honest homophobia than fake platitudes. I won't see this film.

I'm actually insulted by this flick - based upon the trailers so far this is more banal cheese for the low-brow crowd. The most it gets from me is a wry smile observing more of the same lameness from the cowards in hollywood.

    Yuck!

Fuck NO ... maybee if the leads were played by gay actors. Now THAT would be interesting AND funny, but leave it to Hollyood to churn out just another piece un-interesting and un-imaginative CRAP.

It's fairly obvious this film is being marketed for the multi-plex crowd.

    That's not me.

NO. NO. NO. This movie should be boycotted for making fun of a situation that affects real peoples lives. There people who can not get health care because of the Discrimination. Straight people take for granted the laws that allow them to have normal lives.

I haven't made up my mind on this one yet. If done right it could be very funny, and really a good thing for gay people. If done wrong it could be offensive and just crap. I'll wait for the reviews.

Sorry to you American boys... but when I saw the bus ads for this (I live in BC and don't have cable) I thought "wow, we've hit the end of the American Empire"

I mean let's see... we have two slobby straight guys pretending to be gay guys to get health care which really should be their right as citizens.... and this is funny *how* exactly? it's insulting to EVERYONE. It makes Boat Trip look like an enlightened piece of cinema!

It's like you guys are being drowned in spectacle in order to dull you to what's really happening in the world...

I think people are reading way too much into it. It could be funny. And yeah, America's Empire is sort of in a rut, but we've gotten through worse, there is no mass conspiracy to pacify us, as a general population, we've always not known what the hell is going on. Most of us can't even point out Iraq on a map.

Chuck and Larry looks like yet another "let's laugh at the minority" movie. As people should know "playing gay" is the new "black face". What better way to make oneself look accepting than to play a gay actor. In the trailer there is a scene where they are getting married (yay jews, go us!) and when one leans if for a kiss the other slaps him. Disregarding the condoning of domestic violence, this is REALLY a buzz kill for me. It tells me that it's okay to play gay, but don't ACTUALLY BE gay.

Owl states people might be reading into it. Well, I rather people read into something, they sure as hell are not reading into some of the legislation that's been passed over the last few years.

And, in regards to Scullboy's comment, I am not sure how this movie might bring on a insults to Americans, but let me tell you, there is nothing worse that insulting the population of another country when you don't live there. That's like if I used to N word, or mocked Mexico, or better yet, made fun of Canada, eh?

Still - That is no excuse to accept the slop the entertainment industry and media try to distract us with - That only creats apathy, which there is plenty of already - In accepting the status quo, you give into the general malaise, which just more or less keeps things the same.

Iraq is nestled between ( clock-wise ) Jordon, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Kuwait
    and Saudi Arabia.

I say NO to crap that demeans us in any way shape or form.
In the trailer one of the characters punches the other in the face at the alter because he tries to kiss him. Ha-ha-ha...so funny ! And I'm sure that through trial and error the characters learn to love one-another, and that as a prize one of them gets the girl. Yippee !

On the bright side, this does draw atention to the issue of gay marriage, albeit in a pandering, condescending and low-brow way.

I'm weary of this one. It almost looks offensive.

In the trailer, they made male/male kissing look like this horrible, painful, disgusting thing. This movie just seems to be homophobia masked by comedy.

I wouldn't pay to see it.

beyond the blatant insult it champions against the gay community, I don't want to see it because it just looks stupid.

"What have you got there?" "Maxi Pads" "We're gay not transexual"

If Adam Sandler ever made me laugh, it would probably signal the coming of the Armageddon.

Ive been told Im easily offended when it comes to my sexuality... I think of it as pride. This movie looks like a pile of crap. If there is a way to see it without paying, I will, only because I need to know if it crosses a line.

Im glad we can laugh about some douchebags pretending to be gay while real people are dealing with discrimination in the world.
