MMOs are for me, like the inverse of treadmills.

The longer I play them, the fatter I get.

I can;t handle any more disappointments.. FFXIV, AION, D&D, the list is endless icon_sad.gif

Back to CoX and maybe thinking of trying the Star Wars thing when it comes out... but I'm not a Star Wars fan.

I will buy a new computer for it if I have to. I loved GW1 and all the other GW games and expansion.

Damn, this film trailer made me moist...

    Yeah, I said it.

    M-O-I-S-to-the-Tee... MOIST.

Kinda funny though, how the Old Republic era (not sure where exactly in the timeline this is supposed to have happened) but that there are analogues to Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, Mandalorian/Stormtroopers, and of course, a Han Solo type character flying a ship that bears a striking resemblance to the Millennium Falcon.

Old republic era takes place waaayy before the movie era. But yea a lot of the stuff they included seems like fan service. That being said all the trailers for the game are INCREDIBLE and are more interesting than any star wars film ever lol.

I'm still playing Guild Wars 1. I have always liked playing games a generation late because it's cheaper and all of the secrets have been uncovered for me. But playign Guild Wars, I've realized it's different for MMORPGs. All of the other players are l33t and no one wants to buy any of the stuff I get. It feels very stale and dead.

So I might actually shell out the ridiculously overpriced fare for a new game if one comes out that I like.

I recently played the FFXIV and Wakfu betas, which were both horribly buggy and slow to fix anything I cared about. Wakfu was extremely limited, had a stupid market system, and was full of stupid cutesy anime shit. FFXIV was gorgeous but they made it such a chore to just walk from one place to the next. I was literally able to read comic books without difficulty while playing the game at almost full effectiveness. They really want to waste player's time with every single action so that it stretches the number of months out and they get more $$.

Personally, I don't look forward to graphics or coolness. I look for a game that doesn't make me feel like a shmuck for shelling out the cash in exchange for wasting my time, playing a game that was released with tons of bugs, a user-unfriendly interface, poor defense against spam and jerks.

The games I've heard of that I'm interested in are Neverwinter's distant future MMO, Guild Wars 2, Champions online (seems to be a greedy game tho), and Super Hero Squad (probly too kiddy).

I wouldn't start playing immediately though, I would wait for the game to become more stable first.

I thought about preordering the special edition but I want exactly 0 of the physical items it comes with (besides I prefer digital download). I might preorder the standard edition...but I dunno I've been burned by MMO launches a lot lately icon_sad.gif

    preorders are for SHMUCKS.

I was playing the FFXIV beta and there were tons of fanboys bragging about having preordered it on day one. Even at the end of the beta, when everyone was bitching about how horrible everything was, and no improvements made, they kept on defending their purchase. Almost a year later, the game is the worst rated FF game at 49% on gamerankings, and no updates prevented that preorder from being a mistake.

If they hype the preorder deal, take it as a sign that they expect the game to start badly.

Oh I know just how silly preordering a MMO is, especially considering the fact that no MMO has a good launch, they're always plagued with bugs, server issues, long queues, among other things. But eh, even after being suckered into FFXIV, I am willing to say I'll eat a lot of crow of SW:TOR turns out to be a huge mess at launch. I have heard nothing but amazing things from the beta, Bioware has put a crapton into the game, they truly are aiming for this to be the new WoW.

    We'll see what happens.

Rift and DCUO had a damn good launch.

Rift sadly is just WoW with updated graphics, and my friend has Time Warner Cable, which prevents him from playing DCUO (when he logs into the game his internet shuts down)

All the talk on this one is pushing me towards playing it icon_razz.gif Not sure about pre-order though, any time i buy a new game I always pick the 'wrong' server, so might just wait to see where poeple end up, the whole point of an mmo is to playw ith people.
