    I wear these:

I had never heard of them before, but they were recommended to me by a local running store. They fit great. I run around 8 miles three times a week, and I have no problems in these shoes.

But everyone is different. I think that you have to just try some on and see how they feel.

I've worn Newtons since February, and they're the bomb. But, they're for forefoot running, and you have to kind of relearn that technique. It's not hard, and it really helps your speed and distance.

    Asics gel (kayano)

I swear to the japanese brands LOL, mizuno makes good running shoes too.

but the best thing to do is, go to a store where they know their stuff. some places they can analyze your running style on a treadmill and advise you to what shoes to use. also you can bring an old pair of running shoes, the wear will tell them something about what kind of support you need in a shoe.

we all run differently, so what may be a great shoe for me, could be a nightmare for someone else.

Everyone needs different shoes depending on their anatomy and running style, but for me and my fucked-up feet that need massive support, Mizuno Wave Inspire are perfect. I think Mizuno are the best brand no matter what style you need, just my opinion.

If you are going to take up running seriously then have your gait checked. This will determine what type shoes you should wear: stability or neutral. Then after that have fun with the myriad of shoes out there. Aside, New Balance and saucony are my favorites.
