Thank god I won't be in LA this weekend. Essentially, a huge ass stretch of one of the busiest freeway is going to be shut down friday night until monday morning. This is in LOS ANGELES. Who does that?

Jetblue is offering a $4 ticket to fly over from Burbank to Long Beach to see Carmageddon.

Im going to keep a listen on this one as I will be traveling to New Mexico.

This is one major reason I will never live in SoCal. Traffic. I have worked in Dallas and the 1-95 corridor From Baltimore to Richmond VA and will never bitch about traffic in Phoenix. We have a well thought, brand new freeway system...That makes us lucky.

    Good luck my SoCal Brethren.

    If you don't have a long commute, it's a non-issue.

I'm sure that whatever "maintenance of traffic" detours and management could be planned, have been planned. I'm just wondering if these alternative traffic flows have been communicated sufficiently to the driving public.

    I'm so glad I don't own a car anymore.

I live in North Hollywood, If I have to get over to the West LA area I'll just take the streets. Either way though its gonna be a nightmare this weekend traffic is usually a biatch regardless if there is a closure or not,
as peeps usually travel the 405 to the beach from the valley on the weekendsicon_exclaim.gificon_confused.gif

if you think it is bad on regular days then prepare to not be able to move this weekend. i am pretty sure everyone is going to try to take the local streets.

    Haha! So true.

I'm staying home in Newport this weekend. I'm making sure all of the things I'd need to do or take care of in Los Angeles are handled before this nightmare begins.

As one of the people that helps plan things like this for a State Department of Transportation (OHIO).....an UNBELIEVABLE, PAINSTAKING amount of planning, warning, detouring and alternatives are considered and put into action for such a HUGELY DISRUPTIVE road project....and surprisingly enough, the weakest and most dangerous link in the entire situation is ALWAYS..... PISS POOR DRIVING OF THE USERS..... ALWAYS!
The impatient that want to jump in ahead of everyone, the "distracted drivers", the rude and inconsiderate, the stupid sightseers, the "sunday-drivers".....
PLEASE BE CAREFUL, PAY ATTENTION to traffic, AVOID the area if at all possible.....PLEASE SLOW DOWN! Watch out for the road workers......"Common sense" is such a rare thing on the highway, PLEASE RELAX and BE SAFE!

...."CARMAGEDDON"?! REALLY?....sort of a pretentious overstatement of the importance of this project to anyone outside of SoCal.......whatever, just be careful and use that lump 3 feet above your ass for something more than a hat and headphones....
