makes sense to me. Unfortunately, religious zealots don't listen to logic/reason. So the video is "preaching to the choir" for me...

They don't listen full stop, whether it's to logic and reason or not.

So far, from what I've seen... I like the guy. He certainly has a lot to say, but don't we all?

Absolutely not. So vindictive have I never heard it.
Freedom of speech is not an absolute. Freedom of speech is limited by decency and morale. You can't just go around insulting others and hope to crush them with your words. Nobody can judge others and in my opinion those who do are furthest from humanity and religion.
Often times freedom of speech is used to polarize society and divide people in the 'us' and 'them'.

    Good video.
It explains very clearly to the religious fanatic/fundamentalist/literalists how well their 'spreading of the word' is working.

I'm never an advocate of fighting fire with fire where religion is concerned, but I can certainly respect his perspective on the subject. I do something similar, but in a much less hostile and insulting manner.

Now if you turn his words in to mine, talking about the hatful repressive democrats here, I could Say much the same about my experience with many who stand to the left here as he has said about the religus, not much diffrence between the two really.

I show them the same respect they have shown me.

No, freedom of speech IS an absolute.

Because both "decency" and "morale" are arbitrary.

    @ jprichva and Tazo995

Freedom of speech does not give you carte blanche to insult. You can not just go around insulting others as you please. Everybody has a right to say whatever he or she wants, however freedom of speech is being abused in my opinion when you go on about and insult others just because you can. Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you and judge not in order to not be judged.

Freedom of speech is an integral part of democracy. Freedom of speech ends where the rights of others begin.

Furthermore I don't know what relevance being from America has regarding this subject. Freedom of speech goes for everybody.

-All of the above is my opinion

I actually agree with you on your freedom of speech stance. Most of us Americans seemed to get too tightly wound in the whole red, white, blue....rah-rah-rah....we're #1 mentality. (Which is hardly the case. Especially since "W" was put in office!) But I digress......

However, that video is spot on. We as gay people are unsulted EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY by reigion. (Oh, and of course republicans. Oh wait, they are on the same team.)
Why should we just be quiet about these things? I feel his view was absolutely to the point as well as giving back what we get daily.

Tristan....Know this is not an attack on you but merely my own soap box promted by your brief comment.

While not your intention I'm sure I find this kind of statement offensive and wrong in so many ways. In fact, it's statements like these that are responsible for the lack of ball's our country has had of late. I feel that we have allowed so many tree huggers and "oh why don't we all just get along" hippies to destroy the foundation of the amazing country we USE to be and still are.
In fact, it's mostly our own fault because our own press is part of the problem. They make such a big deal about such trivial things (like Clinton's blow job, Bush's vacations, and Obama's birth certificate) that they make our country look like a bunch of fools. We are a laughing stock to the rest of the world.
We need to remind everyone that WE are the world’s super power. WE are the ones who try to help the oppressed in their own countries. WE foot the bill for many other countries medicine and supplies, to the point where our actual citizens can't pay for their own health needs. We strive to educate less fortunate, less advanced cultures and have spent countless hours and untold amounts of money and lives helping other countries build new communities, rebuild after they experience a natural disaster, we try to protect them from oppression via other more aggressive countries and offer financial aid when we can for whatever the reason ma be. We do all of this and in return, rather than respect, rather than the courtesy of help and/or returned favors by those very countries we have helped; we are regarded as heathens and bullies. We're just this country of morons who happen to have better military power. Tell me then, why does EVERYONE still try to come and live here if they hate us so much???
The simple fact that ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS have more financial, medical and social benefits and civil rights than any natural born citizen, or the fact that they come over to my country and start protesting our laws because they find that the laws are not fair to them is APPAULING!!! HOW DARE YOU!! icon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gif Of course the laws aren't fair to illegal immigrants, THERE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE. YOU ARE NOT A CITIZEN!!! Go have a revolution in your own God Damned Country and if you don't want to, then be glad we even give you a chance to become a citizen and shut the fuck up!!! DO NOT PRESUME that just because you WANT to live here or that things in your own country are so bad that you ran to us for protection and illegally crossed our borders instead of maning up and taking control of your country back, means you have ANY RIGHT to callange or change the way things are dictated or run in my great country. If any American went overseas and acted the way so many fucking asshole immigrants do in my country, it would become an international crisis.
When it comes to the comment stated that prompted this soapbox, I feel it is just the opposite. America needs to find its pride again and stand up straight. We need to remind our own government that THEY work for US and WE THE PEOPLE and sick of all this shit. We need to stop kowtowing to the other countries because we are afraid of insulting them when that is all they do to us. At what point did we forget our own strength?? When did we start allowing the other countries and illegal immigrants to start bullying us?? Just because they don't like Americans or our culture doesn't mean that we should have to shut up or put up with their blatant lack of respect.
Much like what the man said in his rant, we do have the right to voice our opinion. We do have a right to dictate how we handle a person if they are not legally suppose to be here and we do have the right to be who we are as a person a citizen and a country. I've said my piece; do with it what you will.

My, what a sad little rant. Wake up and take note that the world has changed. More and more people are fed up with the silly arrogance that drips from your answer. Really, thinking like this is the cause of so much of our problems. A little humility would go such a long way.

I don't think that my statement was non-humanitarian. In fact it's about having respect and pride for your country, which has nothing really to do with being inhuman. I have no problem if someone wants/needs to become a citizen via the proper channels. The rules for gaining citizenship are there to protect my fellow Americans from being blown up by crazy radical foreigners. Is it really in-human want to protect yourself and push back when pushed.
Why is it inhuman to want to protect my fellow Americans from violent foreigners; such as the unbelievable 40% of jail space filled with illegal immigrants for crimes they have committed since showing up in my country? How is my view that illegal immigrants should not have the right to control or dictate my country’s law and that Americans should find their pride again, inhuman? Is it because your not American or that you (while hopeful) are diluting yourself with the idea that one day we’ll have world peace. I get into fights with my family all the time and I love them, what makes you believe I wouldn’t fight with anyone I didn’t care about??
The idea of a "we are all perfect humans that get along" utopian society is unrealistic and down right laughable. It would never work because the day that kind of society actually developed would be the day that humans cease to be human and become slaves.

I didn't/don't want to turn this thread into a American vs. the world argument. I was just trying to make point that I felt needed to be addressed because I think that too many American's have the "ah, who care's?" attitude about the way things are today, rather than the "we're #1 attitude" at least I have a voice.
Which was the point of this thread anyway, the man's right to voice his discontent for intolerant religions to which I agree with. just like my right to voice my opinion on how I feel foreigners like to insult and take advantage of my country and we just allow it to transpire.
