this makes absolutely no sense. you're saying something is solo unless you do it with other people... guess what, masturbation is like that too. have you been taking to homingdevice? so in conclusion, you're either extremely confused are not articulating what you mean to be saying... so...

Let me clarify: I'm suggesting that to be successful, cardio should be done solo. E.g. walking on a treadmill, taking a run outside, or using an elliptical is best done by yourself. Yes, you can go to the gym with a partner, but that partner isn't going to be helping you (like with weight lifting), and may even be distracting you by chit-chatting. You're better off watching a movie on the treadmill, or reading a book on the exercise bike.

That is, of course, unless you're playing a sport which requires teamwork (e.g. rowing, football). Or if you include those dance classes...

And no, homingdevice has not infected me yet. icon_lol.gif

so why don't you rephrase the thread as a question: Is your cardio experience more effective on your own or with other people?

Calibro, why don't you relax.... the question makes sense if you think about it.... If you have the simple mind and read what it literally says then yes it may not make sense.... Go be cranky somewhere else

Because that would require thinking, which is not allowed on internet forums.

If you have to ask that question I guess it's not a sport for you.

Same thing: if you have to ask whether sex is cardio, then it's not cardio for you. icon_lol.gif

http://www.thefitnesslibrary.com/2011/04/01/funny-fitness-friday-is-sex-cardio/Men’s Health reported that sex burns about 160 calories per hour. Based on the fact that Men’s Health also says you burn about 140 calories per hour simply sitting in a chair, this sexual bout must have involved nothing more than sitting there for one participant.

If we assume that some guys can’t perform more than a 4 to 5 minute bout, equivalent to 6% of an hour then you’re dwelling in the range of 10.6 calories…Ouch! On the other hand if the guy is putting in loads of work, I’m sure his calorie expenditure will be a lot higher. For lack of a better phrase, you get out of it what you put into it.

Cardio has many definitions, but for the purpose of this bit, we’ll use the popular definition that says, cardio is any exercise that raises the body’s heart rate to 60 to 85 percent of maximum heart rate for a sustained period of time.

Of course sex is not a sport for me.

now that he's changed the thread title it does make sense... the original title was "thesis: cardio is a solo activity, unless playing a sport." that made no sense at all, so why don't you go back to putting dicks in your hands so you can stop typing stupid posts.

Not for those short winded partners who finish and wrap up in a mere measly five minutes.

Now...two to three hour sweaty balls to the walls you wake up sore in muscles you never knew you had sex? Yes...that's a sport I highly cherish. icon_twisted.gif

    yes, please.

In fact, I would propose specifically that HIIT needs a lot of concentration and should be done by yourself.
