"A San Francisco federal appeals court ordered the military to temporarily continue the controversial policy in an order late Friday, the court's response to a request from the Obama administration".

On the bus, off the bus. Thankfully, this whole undignified mess will be history in a few weeks time.

I'm leaving in a few months and am *extremely* tired of this back and forth.

If I'm gonna look at the silver lining...I guess not being penalized is okay.

    Obama's a dick.

It was quite humorous to see Rachel Maddow sort of gloss over the fact that this was something the court was responding to thanks to the Obama Administration. Had this been some sort of Republican caused delay, she would have had her condescending blather all over it.

ok, im not for the dont ask dont tell policy, but you guys realize that taking it away doesnt mean things are going to get better right? a lot of people in the military are conservative/redneck type people, and a lot of them dont like gay people for whatever reason and being open in the military may end up causing more problems than it fixes.

i have a roommate that is a marine and he put it like this "ask anyone who has faught and bled by a gay guy in thier unit and they will tell you it doesnt really matter. but all it takes is one bigoted asshole in a unit to want that guy dead, and things become problematic

True, however with the elimination of the "Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy", that one bigoted asshole will find himself in a whole lot of hot water...maybe even discharged...if he doesn't learn to deal with it.

I can handle bigotry from individuals, not afraid of that. I just think it's bullshit that under DADT I could *lose my job* for being homosexual

(I realize it's not like that now, but that's how it was for a long time - and why I want the whole thing over with)

I bet you are one of those people who slaps [citation needed] on every other line in Wikipedia (even where none is needed). icon_wink.gif

So you don't have any facts to base your opinion on. You just pulled it out of your ass. Sometimes perspectives from overseas are perceptive; other times they are nothing but crap, and best ignored.

For a few this is a very serious issue, because they joined the military well knowing they are not wanted there.

But It makes one giggle at all those who were ready to re-elect Obama and slapping him on the back for allegedly being pro gay, we when I/we told you this was not so.

Some people vote with their dicks, others put their country's first., thus would not be so disappointed in a situation as this. But.......some will still take their hate out on the Republicans; how hate blinds.

Either you're delusional or you out of your mind. He is the president who SIGNED the repeal bill. The reason why the executive branch appeals rulings such as this is to maintain the idea of separation of powers and checks and balances between the 3 branches.

Name a President who has been more supportive (in actions NOT words) of the gay community.

Quite true, but if an opinion is based on facts, to me it has more credibility than an opinion that isn't. To each his own.

He puts pen to pepper and nothing happens. truly if this was on the top of his agenda, things that should of come to pass by now, would have. Some people will go to any length to get the gay vote. Seems to me the proof is in the pudding.

I really HOPE it's not at the top of his agenda! This country has way more pressing issues to deal with than the implementation of this.

Look, nothing this sweeping is ever enacted immediately upon signing a law. It's not like updating your Facebook status. In the real world, you take your time to implement things like this to ensure that it is done right.
