I'm so damn jealous of you. Australia is totally neglected - that having been said, I'm looking forward to Vampire Weekend coming later this year icon_biggrin.gif

Went to Coachella in '07. It was amazing. This year's lineup didn't really scream to me, so I passed. Plus, the move to Austin (a week after SXSW wrapped up, damn!) will afford some opportunities to pick up a couple of the acts playing Coachella 08 that I did want to see.

Enjoy that Jack Johnson headliner. [ snore ]

That's true, there's always something else to check out around the same time. I actually found that I had to pass up acts I wanted to see because too many were going simultaneously.

I'll be at Pendulum and Spank Rock, but may check out FS. He's not really one of my fave e-music producers (not into "four on the floor" beats), but my mind is open.

    Wrap up

    First off...

HIPSTER SYNTH POP CAN DIE!!! I heard so much gawd awful music this weekend, and they all had bad hair and clothes...funny how that works.

Second...people were RUDE as hell, overall.

Friday highlights-> there weren't many. Lots of bad music, but the good ones stood out:

#1 Pendulum-first live performance in the U.S. Sick drum and bass performed live with a band.
    #2 The Raconteurs
    #3 Aphex Twin

    Saturday:

    #1 Portishead
    #2 Prince
    #3 Minus the Bear
    #4 Animal Collective
    #5 Rilo Kiley
    #6 The Glitch Mob

    Sunday

    #1 Holy Fuck
    #2 Modeselektor
    #3 Roger Waters
    #4 Justice
    #5 Spiritualized
    #6 Love and Rockets

Austin City Limits Festival in Sept. might cure what ails ya after a sub-par Coachella.

I went to Bonnaroo last year which was amazing. Unfortunately, the logistics for it didn't work out this year.

Coachella is also not going to happen. icon_sad.gif

Oh well, ACL Fest this year should be a good one.

I think I'm going to stay w/ small (and free for me) festies until Burning Man. High Sierra, Stilldream and Bobolink.

Line-up is pretty similar at ACL as Coachella. I think festivals just aren't that cool. Too short of sets, too many people, etc.

edit...David Byrne is one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my entire life...and I have been to ALOT of concerts.

Coachella is def one I would NEVER pay to go to. I'll only go with artist passes and now my next condition is an RV
