If you just joined and are starting a workout program, you might want to ease into it. Not only could you hurt yourself but rest/recovery is very important - it allows your body to repair itself (i.e., build muscle).

    Good luck!

I do 5 days a week with weights. I usually do cardio with the weights and sometimes an extra day with just cardio.

4-6 days a week depending on how I feel, it averages 5 really. Cardio 2-3 times a week, 1-2 days being HIIT. I try to keep my routines pretty fluid so I can adapt to how my body feels.

Does jerking off to him count as working out in the gym?

Hey, not sure if serious, or how much you've lifted previously, but 7 days a week and you'll find yourself in camp overtrain in a hurry. You may want to start with a 3 day full body workout like starting strength. Then progress to 4 or 5 day splits after your foundation is strong. 7 days a week isn't maintainable and will probably end up making you quit going.

    Just my two cents.. icon_wink.gif

    I go 3 to 4 times a week.
I've also, as many of us here have been working out for years.
I was in last night and since this was presented by a Newbie (Congratulations btw, good for you and we are all here to support and help)
It made me want to raise a question.
If you see someone working out and they are really doing something harmful and it looks like they are new, do you step in and mention it?
Like anything I think we are a community and should look out for each other.
    Thoughts?

I think if it is sincerely approached, it's the right thing to do. I would never walk up to someone and say "hey, that's stupid", but if he/she is doing something like shrugs while rotating their shoulders I might step up and mention that they might be doing more harm than good. Let them take it at that.

Too often. You can't train everyday you'll overtrain.

That's a good way to overtrain your forearms. Careful now.

Depends on what workout I'm really following. Generally 3-4 days a week, depends on whether I'm doing a complete workout or focusing on various areas.

Try to make it 6 times a week...50/50 cardio and weights split into three workouts...so I only work each muscle twice in any week.

Depends really... I tend to go ion spurts of 2-3 days in a row and then take a day of, and maybe repeat if I'm feeling like it. I tend to do a lot of exercise just bike commuting or in the course of my job [which involves standing and lifting] or running around the park when I'm not in the gym.

I lift 3x a week, alternating my upper body and lower body workouts. (Though I squat and bench every workout.) On non-lifting days, I run, do core work, do tai chi, and/or work on capoeira/balancing skills.

Not if you have someone else do it for you.

If I am the newbie, I would definitely appreciate if someone walks over and correct my posture. Obviously, I don't like to be shunned and be call names, but any genuine help is welcomed.

    Weights, 5 days
    Hatha yoga, once a week
    Spin, 1-2 days a week

...so usually I end up there every day. I probably miss about 2-3 days a month.
