hey guys...i'm starting a running program...i'm 6ft2..208lbs...ive been running with my ipod and nike+ sensor...each day i do a 5min walk then 30 mins of running intervals with 2 min walking in between (today for example i did 3x 7running and 2 walking...then 3 min run to bring it up to 30 mins followed by a 5 min walk...)

My ipod tells me on avg i do 5km in each workout and burn approx 1000 calories...based on my reading this seems like too many calories to be burning...i read the avg for half an hour for 200lbs is 400cals..

Is the 1000 cals possible or do u think its reading wrong?

    Comments please!

It's reading wrong. At your size you're probably burning between 100-150 calories per mile depending on how fast/intense your running intervals are.

One thousand calories for 30 minutes of walking/running is way too high. I wish it were that easy! You can find various calorie calculators online, but I've found they give very different results.

Are you running outdoors or inside? A treadmill might give you a slightly better estimate of calories burned.

Is there a way to calibrate the sensor? Maybe you can get more accurate readings if you recalibrate it. I'm not familiar with the Nike+ system.

Depends on other factors like speed, any slopes, etc.,but one thousand sounds way too high.Basic running on the level at,say, seven and a half miles an hour, for thirty minutes would burn something like five hundred and sixty calories at your weight, etc.

Thnx for the input guys....so it turns out my weight was entered on the nike+ in kg not lbs...so basically i had myself down as 458lbs which explains the 1000cal reading!

Daily drink quite hot water in the morning.
cycling, walking, jogging & workouts help a lot to burn the calories. For fast result take some medication.
