Finally got my invite to Spotify. I have to say its pretty damn awesome. I've been able to listen to every single CD out there all for free! It looks like they have a lot more selections than iTunes.

Who has tried it? Better than itunes? I think so.

Go sign up for an invite: https://www.spotify.com/us/hello-america/

That way you won't need to pirate music anymore.

I don't get all the hype...Rhapsody has been around for years...
I understand you can join spotify for free, but must listen to ads as well. If you don't want to hear them, you have to pay. Isn't that like Rhapsody?

I'm loving Spotify. I'm not familiar with Rhapsody, but Spotify gives me 20 hours of music that I want to listen to a month for free. Unlike Pandora I can pull up an artist (huge selection) and listen to whole albums. It also syncs with my itunes collection so all of my songs are right there too. Also, it is available as an app, which ports all of your playlists from your desktop to your mobile device and vice versa. It also publishes playlists and songs to friends or your wall in facebook.

Also scrobbles to your last.fm account, if you have one.

If you guys are looking for other streaming music sites, slacker is pretty excellent. Very minimal commercials, excellent music catalog (including punk), app for iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Phone.

TheGuyNextDoor saidAre you able to actually burn any of the music to disc or save it to your hard drive or is it strictly streamed like Pandora?

Barring an analog feed, I think it's secured.

unfortunately you cannot burn or save the music. it is kinda like pandora but you have control of what is being played. i think it is a pretty sweet deal for something that is completely free. plus the library is huge. maybe they'll add in a purchase music feature one day.

I really like my spotify, it use to be that you got unlimited music for free with the occasional ad but I think now theyve cut it down to 20 hours a month or something? At least in the UK they have.

Anyway I now pay £10 a month but get unlimited music, no ads, good quality, and I can get my playlists offline and on my smart phone. Not at all badicon_cool.gif

I've never used Spotify, but have also been using Grooveshark for a couple years now. I like it a lot for when I want to listen to particular songs / albums that I pick out myself. They used to throw in an ad from time to time, but I haven't heard one in about a year.

I've only just started looking into Spotify though, and don't really care about the "social" aspect of it. Probably just because none of my friends use it, and I don't care to listen to their music, but has anyone really played much with sharing playlists with their friends and whatnot? I don't really get the desire to install a desktop app to listen to a playlist when creating an account should store your playlist to the cloud.

Starting to get into Google Music though; hopefully the Google team is working to make it pretty decent.

I believe the US users are currently getting unlimited music for the time being. I am sure they'll change it in the future.
