Remember SCHOOL NIGHT, your ARTWORK in the Hallway?

Something I read reminded me of those nights in elementary school when you and your family would come meet your teacher, and the things that you wrote or created, mostly artwork, were on display along the corridors. It was a strange feeling to be going to your school at night, and a thrill to find where your teacher (or student helpers) taped your work to the wall.

    "There it is! That's mine!"

What was that night called? Any memories of it?

I sure do. Parents hardly ever came or cared though icon_smile.gif Was still super exciting to see friends and school at night - I used to go nuts about it.

Never had those in my high school.
Everything i made was trash, according to my parents and teachers.
It wasnt until i was in college that my work started getting recognition among my peers, so i knew i wasnt going crazy!

Times were a little different when I was a kid. When there was an open house or parent-teacher conferences, almost all of the parents came. The halls of the school were full of parents on those evenings.

    Art Night.

I remember in the third grade, I did this one art piece, we all had to give ours a name for the display. I titled mine "Catastrophe". icon_lol.gif

    Sixth grade.

We were all given a pumpkin in October about 12" in diameter, and were instructed to decorate it for a competition for "best pumpkin". I remember dragging my parents through the produce section of the grocery store and decorating the thing like Carmen Miranda (didn't know who she was, I was in 6th grade, still had the idea though).

    Won first place.

I dreaded it because my teachers would always try to get my mother to medicate me.

My mom always responded with "I dont have trouble controlling him at home...What are you doing wrong?"
