    Hello,

First off, my apologies if this is frowned upon. My name is Melissa Cox and I am a Masters student at University College London. I am currently conducting research into the practice of reparative therapy as a part of a Master’s thesis. I am interested in exploring the experiences of those who have undergone such therapy within a religious setting. I am seeking out those who would be interested in sharing stories of their involvement with ex-gay ministries. Much has been written about those who practice reparative therapy, but less so about the experiences of those who have undergone it; my research seeks to develop a deeper understanding of the effects of this controversial treatment.

If you would be interested in sharing your story with me, please email me at melissa.cox.10@ucl.ac.uk. Likewise, if you know anyone who may be interested, please pass this information along. This study has been approved by all relevant academic and ethical boards, and conforms to all consent and confidentiality guidelines as outlined in the Data Protection Act of 1998.

    Thank you,
    Melissa Cox

theantijock saidYou are calling the brainwashing of gay people reparative therapy. Why do you suppose someone here might frown upon that, Ms. Cox?

Because that's what it's called you dim whitted, two bit unintelligent dingleberry!

It can also be called conversion therapy and reorientation therapy!

Ms Cox didn't name the damned thing, she's just wishing to explore the individuals who have experienced such asinine treatments!

theantijock saidWhen being utterly rude in accusing someone of lacking intelligence, you might first consider spell-checking the shit that comes out of your mouth, speaking of a dimwit. For your future reference, it is dim-witted.

Thus my comment which you sought to smear.

    This is a sentence fragment.

For the love of Lugh, what sort of hypersensitive crap is that? It's called reparative therapy. It's a value-neutral name.

The proper use of term for the OP would have been "so-called reparative" because to say brainwashing gay people is reparative is, as you might be sensative to if you weren't so caught up in your own agenda, insulting to our community. Thus my comment which you sought to smear. This must be a very proud moment for you.

    Oh wow..

No, the community that believes in "reparative therapy" call it exactly that, why the hell should Ms Cox tip toe around because of a few sensitive little homos who are going to try and get everyone's nickers in a knot.

    BTW

theantijock saidGuess what words I fragged out of that sentence.

You fragged out the entire predicate of the sentence. I'm just saying, if you're going to call someone out on spelling or grammar, it would probably be best if you used proper spelling and grammar yourself.

It's simply called reparative. If you google it, it comes up in everything from Wikipedia to Religious Tolerance.
