Considering I just got back in the military.......this is great news for me......not like I plan to prance around my unit announcing I'm gay......but I don't have to avoid answering the typical..."dating/marriage" questions. icon_biggrin.gif

It is a bit unnerving to read some of the post after the article. Wow! There are some really ignorant and hateful people online. LOL icon_rolleyes.gif

Bigotry often takes a long time to die off.

    But eventually, it shall.

Yep, that's gonna be the best part about it. Once the dust has settled and society sees that their military is just as strong as before, they'll start to realize that their fear of homosexuals was unwarranted.

As long as there's religious fanatics, there will be bigotry. icon_wink.gif

It's funny I read the news every morning hoping this would finally come, and this morning I forgot to check haha. I'm excited that it finally happened, as I'm set to go to boot camp late october which will is a short time after the 60 day waiting period is over. I'm not the type to walk around waving a flag, but if asked I like to be honest and i was a bit worried about how to handle the situation i was gonna be walking into. Now i'll have no worries. 1pt for the good guys lol.

Speaking from personal experience, when the day comes, it will be just like any other day for the armed forces. For thousands of gay servicemen and women, however, it will feel like a huge weight has been lifted from their shoulders. You may even notice them standing a little taller.
