Rosetta Stone is quite good. I made it through the 2nd package and I was able to understand a little...that was when we went to Greece 4 years ago.

At least I still understand why classical Greek is so much harder than modern Greek.

The Pimsleur approach is highly recommended. You can get a free Greek lesson to sample the approach here:
    http://www.pimsleur.com/

    More info here:
    https://www.pimsleurapproach.com/learn-greek.asp

The quick courses are just a few dollars. The comprehensive ones are much more expensive, but if you buy the CD version, you can often find good deals on used ones.

This is also an excellent resource. There are forums specific to learning approaches and to specific languages. You can get information from language experts and native speakers.

I took two years of Ancient Greek in college. Enough to translate parts of Antigone... And enough to sound pretentious at cocktail parties when I so choose. icon_redface.gificon_cool.gif

    Haha icon_smile.gif

One of my friends made the mistake of getting a book on Ancient Greek instead of Modern Greek. Let's just say her time in Greece was rather embarrassing regarding linguistic matters. She quickly learned that she was better off speaking English than Ancient Greek while she was in Athens.
