Do you think American Idol is going to the dogs?

From I've seen since the day Taylor Hicks, then the reign of Sanjaya, is that the votefortheworst group is it's strings against the media giant. Albeit a dent in their ratings and random chance of winning, but nevertheless it still seems to me that the Kelly Pickler + Sanjaya Malakar + Carrie Underwood hybrid = Brooke White is going to be in the finals... and frankly a pretty face, blonde hair and singing a currently popular genre isn't enough to make me vote for such a vapid barbie doll.

I usually don't concern myself with this b.s. so much, but since I got my latest job, it's the only entertaining thing on t.v. :Z

went to the dogs? When they had the three judges Paula the Pom Pom girl from the Lakers Her best talent is looking at the mirrors on the ceiling. Randy just won the Genetic Lottery being born a Jackson Simon even though I can not stand him 99% of the time is the only sucess on the panel.

I lost a huge amount of the little faith I had left in the voters when Syesha and Carly were in the bottom 2. They were the only two who picked songs that were remotely close to their personalities. David Cook is a great talent, but Music of the Night???? He couldn't find something with a little rock from Starlight or Superstar or Joseph? Even Evita has some good fun stuff for a guy to sing.

Jason Castro and Brooke "Can we start again?" White should be gone.

My prediction for the final two: David & David.

    My two cents worth:

DJBens77 is a hottie... I would totally do him... even he doesn't know who the people on AI are...icon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gif

Irishboxers... my feelings exactly... they should both been gone a long time ago.

I'm firmly in the David Cook camp, and I, too, think it will boil down to a battle of the Davids.

It has been going downhill for a while now. Its sad that they can get 100,000+ plus people to audition and out of that they gather around 200 and they bring it down to the final 10 and you have people that still have no business being on the stage. They know who they want to win. They had the All American (Kelly Clarkson), The Black Guy (Ruben Studdard), The Black Girl (Fantasia), Country Girl (Carrie Underwood), The underdog (Taylor Hicks) and the young girl (Jordin Sparks). All they need left is the rocker (David Cook) and the young boy (David Archuletta). When they fill those slots it will be over. Thank God. I hate the show yet I must still watch it. Go figure.icon_question.gif

I think I've seen only 3, maybe 4, seasons of Idol including the current one. I've never taken it completely serious. But, this season I think the talent -- in general -- has been better. Still, I think the top candidates (in this case the two Davids) outdistance their nearest competitors. If talent was the only gauge, Carly (or Michael Johns) should have made it to the top 3. Syesha was good last week, so I'll give her a pass but she should go soon. Brooke has not been good in weeks, she needs to be the next to go. At this point, I'm guessing Jason Castro might make it into the top 3 based on his popularity. He can be cute, but he certainly wasn't better than Carly Smithson on Michael Johns.

But, it seems this sort of thing happens every season where someone strong, like Tamara Gray from the first season, or several others I can think of, were dismissed for more popular -- but not more talented -- singers.

As for going to the dogs, this is TV folks. I've never had high expectations about the way this show works.

On a bit of a tangent, I'm trying to picture their careers post-Idol, in order of my predicted finish:

David Cook: I'm a big David A. fan, but I think David Cook will beat him down the stretch; he's been more creative and shown more star quality than the boy. Could get overshadowed by Daughtry if he isn't careful. He should take a cue from Chris Cornell and go the alt-heavy-rock route...and he's already covered a Chris Cornell version of a cover. Bo Bice didn't do so well post-Idol (but he had some health issues) but David might make it.

David Archuleta: Serious possibility of being a huge Christian rock/pop star; they're aching for a name in that genre. You've all noticed the inspirational leanings of his song choices, yes?

Syesha: Decent R&B album (gold, maybe platinum) will pave her way to Broadway. I predict a Tony within 5 years and a good, long, decent career.

Carly: This is where she should have been in the finish. Will revive the niche left empty by Pat Benatar and Joan Jett and will open for Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow, or a similar chick-rock tour.

Brooke: Album will get mixed reviews and she'll descend to C-List status.

Jason: Once they realize there's nothing there, he'll have a short career singing Jack Johnson and Howie Day covers.

And that, my friends, is waaay more thought than I've ever given Idol in the past. I should probably get out more.

I confess to having watch all the seasons of AI and I have friends (other cameramen) that have worked on the show,

This season, I believe has had the best talent pool and yes, I was shocked that some better singers were kicked out while bad ones remain for popularity reasons.

This season; The two Davids are the obvious front runners.
David A is WAY cute, safe and has a great voice and stage presence; David cook is a polished rocker with smart choices (save for Music of the night) and both have a good shot at a major career.

Jason Castro? I don't get it.... he nearly gave me goosebumps with his Beatles songs and Over the rainbow but in other things (like last week) he shows no luster or depth.... and that HAIR ! yuck-o big time.... everyone I know wants to brush it out! hahhahah BUT I know young girls seem to think he is cute and charming.
Saheesa was really good at Broadway and is a good looking girl BUT lately has had pitch problems with ALL her songs.

Brook? NOT good she should be next to go along with Jason Castro.

    The beat goes on.

As for those who simply want to trash Television in general; There are shows for EVERYone on TV.... some trashy crap and some really meaningful documentaries, science and nature and other Hi brow shows.
With all the choices TV can't be all one genre or quality.

David Archaleta has no discernible personality and he seems like he could burst into tears at any moment. I think he has a nice voice but he is incredibly boring and has no stage presence. Maybe he is a robot??

I can't understand what people see in American Idol, most of the people can't carry a tune. What is all the excitement about? I have tried to watch it, but just can't.
