A distraught young woman called U.S. Rep. David Wu's Portland office this spring, accusing him of an unwanted sexual encounter, according to multiple sources.

When confronted, the Oregon Democrat acknowledged a sexual encounter to his senior aides but insisted it was consensual, the sources said.

The woman is the daughter of a longtime friend and campaign donor. She apparently did not contact police at the time.

One person who heard the voice mail described the woman as upset, breathing heavily and "distraught."

In the voice mail, the young woman accused Wu of aggressive and unwanted sexual behavior, according to sources with direct knowledge of the message and its contents.

He has got to be mentally ill:

Three weeks prior to the 2004 elections, The Oregonian published an article reporting that Wu had been accused of sexually assaulting an ex-girlfriend while attending Stanford.[8] Criminal charges were never filed, but the story prompted Wu to hold a press conference apologizing for "inexcusable behavior".[9]

In February 2011, Willamette Week[10] and later The Oregonian reported that in the runup to the November 2010 election, Wu began behaving erratically and that staffers "demanded he enter a hospital for psychiatric treatment."[11] The erratic behavior that triggered the staff's departure was reported to be no single incident but rather a pattern of behavior that included Wu's emailing his staff photos of himself in a tiger suit.[12]

After Wu won re-election, at least six of his staffers left, including his longtime chief of staff and his communications director.[13] In a statement, Wu acknowledged he has sought "professional medical care" and attributed the problems to the stress of being a single father, the death of his father, and his political campaign.[11] The Oregonian has reported that a campaign contributor gave Wu a prescription painkiller, identified by the staffer present as oxycodone to help alleviate an episode of severe neck pain.[14] Willamette Week quoted the donor as saying the pills were ibuprofen.[15] Wu has admitted taking the painkiller, saying that it was an act of bad judgment, but claiming that he does not know what it was.[16]

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0711/59706.htmlThe Oregonian reported the person involved graduated from high school in 2010 but did not mention her age. She and her family declined to speak to the newspaper.

That could have been one precocious high school grad.

Wasn't he re-elected after all of that? You can't demand people step down when they've gone through the scandal and their constituents have re-elected them. We don't operate under your Politburo rules on this side of the Atlantic.

Dumbass. Vitter committed a felony, which alone would prevent him from being elected to the Senate. We are country of laws.

I also find it really funny that you think I'm going to defend Rangel or Wu. I'm from a family of cops and believe if you break the law, you pay the consequences.

I'm not really up on my Vitter info as you are. So he hasn't been up for re-election yet since the scandal?

Yes, but the Bush DOJ didn't investigate or prosecute him, so he was able to run. And apparently his right-wing, Christian fundie base doesn't care that he's a complete hypocrite. icon_rolleyes.gif
