    Scream series
The first Nightmare on Elm street (original not the new one)
The Hill have eyes (first part of the new ones made)
Can't think of anymore besides those three... so I'll add more sooner or later if I remember some

Don`t really have an all time favourite, like the genre generally, although 'The Ring' (Japan) was very, very good.

Hollywood : Paranormal Activity 1. I liked it and felt it was very well done, a movie shot mostly in the first person view with some third person thrown in. I watched it in the dark all alone and it was nice and spooky after.

Foreign : A Japanese horror movie called The Audition.

I don't know why, but girls with long black hair covering their face scare the shit out of me...so that means The Grudge, Ring and every other Japanese ghost film are guaranteed to be good.

Quarantine (which is the US remake of REC right?) also scared the shit out of me.

    Notting Hill.

Seriously, if you did a forum search for "horror movie" you'd see that even very recently this question has been asked and answered ad nauseum. Not that that'd stop this thread from going viral even if the only film topic that would've been less original would've been a thread on gay movies.

Now that's original. I'm not sure who gave me my first book but they sure didn't read through it first. It wasn't a Golden Book but the unannotated tales of the Brothers Grimm as originally written, which were darker and more gruesome than even the horror movies they were made into. My favorite fairy tale, a short read, is "Clever Grethel": http://www.candlelightstories.com/Grimms/CleverGrethel.htm
