My brother gave me a Roomba, robotic vacuum cleaner, for christmas. No doubt he was thinking that I was too sick to clean. He was right...but I was also too sick to mentally deal with figuring it out and having this thing running around my house.

Well, finally, after being pushed by my mother, it is up and running and cleaning house.

It is cute...like having a trilobite running around the house.

It cleans well. I cant stand and watch it tho...not like you are supposed to anyway...it's random running around annoys me.

So I have just gone about my business and let the little gizmo do its job. It really cleans the carpet well.

Oops...it is coming in my personal office now. hahahahaha.

Guess I will go back to cooking dinner while I let it clean.

Someone needs to write a screenplay about a possessed Roomba that kills, sort of like Stephen King's Christine, only with a vacuum instead of a car.

    ATTACK OF THE KILLER ROOMBAS

An innocent robotic cleaner turns deadly when Caslon accidentally trips over it and scrambles its AI. The Roomba seemed okay, but beneath the shiny metal exterior... the microchip was busily contacting other Roombas via a transciever mistakenly incorporated into the Roomba design by an overcaffeinated scientist.

Caslon wakes up one morning to a horde of Roombas rapidly reducing his neighborhood to squeaky clean lawns.

And horror of horrors! They were gnawing at two houses across the street. The two men in Caslon's life, who he loved once but left because he loved them too much. he doesn't talk about it, but he still loves them and masturbates alternately at the windows of the two guys - Dancerjack and MikePhil.

Forced to decide who to save, who will Caslon pick? Dancerjack or MikePhil from the ravenous maws of the Killer Roombas?

Can Caslon destroy the legion of robotic cleaners cleaning up the city population with their deadly rotating brushes?

Will he be able to save his true love? Will it rain on Sunday? Are you sure this is edible?

    Find out in...

I love my Roomba. I have the scheduler model though, so it cleans when I'm at work. The only bad thing is when I accidentally leave a cord laying around or a stray sock on the floor. Then the little bugger gets stuck and I come home and see it "dead" with the battery light flashing red. icon_smile.gif

I love the movie pitch, but I think it needs a little tweaking. Here are my suggestions:

-- The Roomba needs motivation that the audience can relate to, like low self-esteem.

-- DancerJack's character needs to be fleshed-out. Let's make him a divorced dad with two kids who he would die for. One should be named "Billy."

-- Can we include a scene where the characters start singing along to a "classic" song?

-- Let's make MikePhil the mad scientist who programmed the Roomba in the first place, only we won't reveal that information until the film's climax.

-- Perhaps there can be another Roomba, unaffected by the programming glitch, that befriends the children and sacrifices itself to save them.

-- I have a feeling that Caslon won't connect with our target demographic. Can we get Zdrew instead?

I think having this machine would freak me out. I would probably start having flash backs to all those 'B' movie horror films that used to scare the s**t out of me as a kid.

I can just see me now waking up in the middle of the night from a nightmare in which I imagined the Roomba was spying on me as I slept ....

If the appearance really bothers you, they make outfits for them.http://www.myroombud.com/

I like my Roomba and I like coming home from work to empty it's bin, but I'll be damned if I'm going to dress it like a cow.

ha ha ha ha ha!! It's amazing the crap out there that people will buy. I love my roomba just as he is - I don't need to dress him up.

But, thanks for the laugh. icon_biggrin.gif

-- Of course, the Roomba has low self-esteem and his assembler was an alcoholic who accidentally dropped him when he was fresh off the assembly line.

-- Agree. But "Billy" is a bad name these days ever since the Micheal Jackson incident. I would suggest the other kid be named something more wholesome and All-American, like "25Cents" to counterbalance the negative appeal of "Billy".

-- Hmmm... Will Mama Cass' "Dream a Little Dream of Me" do?

-- Hmk. That would lower MikePhil's atrociously high talent fees if he would only appear in once scene! icon_wink.gif

-- OH! Haven't thought of that. We'll dress him up as FooFoo the WereRabbit in JustJohn's links. And he was a good Roomba (but an old model) who is loyal to Caslon and DancerJack but has been tossed in the back shed. 25cents and Billy befriends it and uses it to hack CIA archives.

-- oh no! Caslon would do nicely. Zdrew can make a cameo appearance as the guy who delivers Pizza to the gangbangers who gets wiped out in teh first few minutes of the attack.

The Roomba is probably one of the foremost classic examples of successful commercial robots in everyday life nowadays. People who study how humans interact with robots are all over the Roomba, as it is an example of a useful robot, that can be part of everyday life.

They are cool, effective and make for great cat playmates!
