That would be too simple. Bureaucrats don't understand simplicity.

LMAO. "SAVING OUR FUTURE"? REALLY? SAVING OUR FUCKING FUTURE? (Excuse my unrestrained hyperbole).

This website should be renamed: campaign for America's fiscal demise and ruin by being completely irresponsible.

To use a drastically milder example, imagine the lunacy of a credit card company approving to expand someone's line of credit to 300,000 when they are already 200,000 in debt.

In any other case you would be outraged, and yet you support this shit as though it makes any fucking sense?

It's as though half of Americans are out of their minds. They've lost all reason.

I don't know any credit card companies that would allow you to bankroll a couple of wars anyway...

Right - keep it simple, keep spending, have no controls, keep increasing the debt. Beyond stupid.

Your problem, Twinkletoes, is that like all conservatives you are math-challenged.
Blowing up the debt ceiling is estimated to cost an additional $100 billion in debt service due to higher interest rates.

If Teabaggers really cared about this, they'd never dream of blowing off the deadline. But, see, all this is just smoke and mirrors. Like your governor, the crisis was invented and is now being used to push a radical rightist agenda. This is why they don't care that they don't make sense. It was never going to, and they knew that going in, and it doesn't matter to them.

The cynicism and anti-Americanism of the right wing is really breathtaking.

Exactly. Even the Chamber of Commerce - no fan of Obama or the Democrats - has called on the Republicans to accept Boehner's new plan, which Reid has agreed to present in the Senate. That proposal doesn't have any of the desperately needed revenue increases but the Tea Baggers still don't like it.

The debt ceiling does need to be increased, provided there are significant spending cuts. It took us a while to get to this point, and the solution is not going to happen overnight. Without raising the ceiling, after paying the interest on existing debt, what's remaining, after paying social security and military, would lead to disruptive, draconian cuts. You don't lose weight in a healthy way by going on a hunger strike.

The hold-outs on this should understand you can't have your way completely with controlling one half of the legislative branch. The resulting chaos would be blamed on both parties and give cover to this administration. We need to be mindful of the independents and realize allowing no tax increases and significant spending are reasonable compromises. Staying and appearing reasonable, along the lines of the Boehner plan, is the best way towards taking the White House and Senate and keeping the House, so reform can continue in a measured way.

Yeah, you should be upset that both democrats and republicans overwhelmingly voted in favor of the war, only for many democrats to take advantage once the war became unpopular and pin it as "Bush's war" and a "republican doing".

In my view it's the political fools who trapped us here to begin with. Shameful!!
