How many of you guys have pretty violent dreams, on a quite regular basis?

I can't remember all the detail, but my dream this morning involved me being in the car with my grandparents, driving up a hill. A van in front of us overtook going too fast round a bend and somehow flipped over. We stopped to get out and help, when suddenly a couple of guys in balaclavas with guns jumped out the back of the van and started throwing gas grenades at us.

My grandfather was driving and he started reversing down the hill to get away, then decided to gun the engine and run over as many of the guys as possible - with me and my grandma cheering on each one that was plowed down and encouraging him to back up over them a few times.

Then I got out of the car, went and picked up one of the guns and went round to the guys lying on the floor who weren't quite dead, and shooting them to make sure.

More people showed up and it got a bit crazier and I ended up hiding in another vehicle to get away, shot up a few more bad guys and teamed up with a hot, fierce Asian chick who grabbed up a pump action shot gun and shoved it up into a guy's chin and blew him away.

That's about all I can remember... it was cool though!

Are violent dreams the sign of a disturbed mind!?

Well, I've told you about my animal-attack dreams. They were clearly my brain ticking over in my sleep. Maybe your violent dreams will mean something for you too...

Violent dreams are not a sign of a disturbed mind. They can be a warning and a wake-up call.

In dreams violence can be a call to action... whatever that action may be...

An overdue visit, a telephone call... whatever action is required our brain is attempting to disturb us enough into taking action.

Not a shrink or anything here.... but, with me... that's what those dreams have done. So no.. you are not disturbed. Only being pushed by (yourself) to take action.

Dreams come from the subconscious mind. Are you being careful about what you are feeding the subconscious? i.e. negative thinking, the wrong type of entertainment, or reading?

I watched "Limitless" with a bud last night and really enjoyed the scene where Bradley Cooper stubbed a Russian thug's eye with a syringe hidden in his mouth. Later I had a really violent but awesome dream that I was killing thugs all over the place with all kinds of nasty devices. It's too gruesome so I won't describe it here.

Sounds pretty tame to some of the dreams I end up in.
I always have dreams about apocalyptic events.
Usually it has something to do with the sun exploding, or destroying the earth in one matter or another.
Have been having a lot of dreams about earthquakes as well.
Had a really psychotic dream a long while ago about this giant praying mantis creature with knives coming after me, glad that hasn't reoccurred lol.

    Yes.

The "dream dictionary" at http://www.dreammoods.com is the first website I go to after waking up from a violent dream.

Some medications affect dreams. (Sustiva is notorious for this, but there are others as well, including most antimalarials.) If you're on some medication that does that, though, and you're having graphically violent dreams like that one, then you should probably talk to your doctor about adverse side effects.

I don't know if my dreams are "violent"...but they can be creepy. Certain objects seem to get reoccuring roles in my dreams. Like I've seen the same house, or same cat, or same shirt in more than one dream...but I've never actually seen the house, cat, or shirt...atleast that I can recall.

    Stop watching Tarantino before bed!!

also dream explanation books are mostly nonsense. They're way too generic to be of any use. Better to examine dreams, what the feelings remind you of in your past, what certain important elements represent to you specifically. Things make a lot more sense when you write them down and read them later in the day.

Medications have made my dreams more intense or too-much-to-process, and I wake up feeling exhausted.

Usually the action in my dreams is from flying around. I've gotten to the point where I'm half-lucid. When I realize I'm in a dream, I wake up quickly, but when I'm in a half-lucid state, I don't know I'm dreaming, but I do know that I'm in a place where I can do whatever I imagine, and it's a lot of fun.

I have a lot of anger but no violence in dreams, so I wouldn't say yours are directly related to anger.

I can't remember the last time I had a violent dream. That's a pretty sweet lucid dream though! Always the best.

I tend to have a lot of sex dreams and/or dreams involving me dying.

That's telling you to have as much sex as possible before you die.

I guess this could be considered a violent dream:

I had a bowl of cornflakes before bed and had this weird dream the other night.. I was skiing downhill really fast when my skis got caught in a tree root sticking out of the snow. The skis snapped off my feet and I started rolling downhill. There was something yellow (a chicken?) Then I flew off a cliff and plummeted to my death. icon_eek.gif

Guys mentioning medication reminds me that I did take my anti-migraine meds last night as I had a migraine, I wonder if it was connected. I should have said also that although not really rare for me, I don't have dreams of such violence often.

I used to have recurring dreams that I was a stone-cold elite assassin, it was jam-packed with guns, samurai sword, garrote wire, the whole shebang.

It as a bit like the young black male version of Kill Bill.

In dreamspeak, it sounded more like a vivid dream, not a lucid dream, which refers specifically to being awake in a dream.

Medication might enhance or dull the quality of dreaming but I don't know that it greatly effects dream elements or dream characters' actions or the thinking of your dream character in particular. I've done lucid dreaming while my body was drunk but in that dreaming I was entirely sober.

Well usually when you remember such dreams that are that vivid they also tend to be lucid as I can't remember the last time I have had one but haven't had the other going on.

Sometimes the difference between a nightmare and a nice dream is simply a comfortable mattress and pillow. Also, always try to go to sleep with good thoughts - attract the type of dream you want to have for a particular evening.

yeah they occur once to three times a week. Usually invovle killing sprees. I.E. losing control of my angerand killing who ever is my sight. Again losing my control, hunting down all my exs and torturing them so suffer a slow and painful death. Or just killing all my family members. Sometimes dreams of my own death murder, suicide, accidents, and other stuff. Then you have the zombie dreams thats just to long to list. Point is they happen and depending on the person you get use to them and enjoy them. Or let them freak you out.
