I knew it had been coming up. I run my investment firm well... learned early about the need to keep accurate and complete records, mileage. I met the woman (who was very nice) and reviewed all as required from the request to look at 2009 records. I was more nervous about having my act together.. and I ask her as many questions as she asked me. I also
discovered the reason for this partial audit..... I had incorrectly placed a "schedule A" item under "schedule C". Shouldn't be terrible, but is going to affect my 2010 return as well.

For those of you who are self employed or itemize..... do your job and never assume you.. you won't be flagged!

My sis is an entrepreneur and in the last 12 years she has had 3 visits, it was all fine, but she tells me they're not pleasant, especially because they come with a group of 3 to 4 people and act very imposing and intimidating.

Haha perhaps, but you can't really do much about it, she has accountants that deal with them, so that really makes a difference!

I just finished one back in February. Aaron ( the IRS guy) was very polite, very handsome and everything turned out A-OK. ( I had to show invoices as to why I purchased twice as many supplies last year as I did the year before.) icon_wink.gif

Well this woman was not intimidating. I can handle it anyway they wanted to dish it.. but we talked about everything from beagles to my birthday this weekend. I know how I want to be perceived, friendly, prepared, very atuned and above all diligent, but honest.

And yeah, I did my homework... on everything.

The IRS is extra-constitutional. Abolish it NOW.

I applaud you...I'm digging up documents at work for an audit right now because our bookkeeper is fucking dipshit and doesn't keep a paper trail of anything!
