I am looking for a full size mattress
Any suggestions? Any brand names or types of mattress you have found to be awesome??

We have a Tempurpedic. When we first got it, I was convinced it was just a gimmick and would not like it. My boyfriend really wanted it and now I am so glad we have it. So comfortable. It vibrates and you can raise and lower the head or feet. Miss it when we are traveling.

My friend got a Bed In A Box (http://www.bedinabox.com/), which is similar to a Tempurpedic but is much less expensive.

I agree. It is the best feeling in the world.

For your first mattress and box spring, go to the store and talk to the guy about the differences and test some out.

I like my Serta. I know it is an old standard company, but it is comfy and hits just the right point of firm and soft.

I dont like the memory foam beds... I SWEAT like a cheerleader in a locker room. I am hot natured and those mattresses make me so hot it is uncomfortable. But I am a hot natured dude.

Buy quality. This is one thing for your house that you get what you pay for. A cheap mattress/box springs combo will not last and will sleep like a cheap set. If you buy outrageously expensive, you may be buying more than you need.

I would seriously advise to go to the furniture store, (or Sears) and just test them out.

What's wrong with IKEA beds? I like the longer mattress than usual UK beds.

yourname2000 saidYeah, I went with a copycat tempurpedic and love it. Memory foam...love. And I actually like that it doesn't have any bounce or movement, but some people find that unsettling (especially during certain --ehem-- bedtime activities). icon_redface.gif

Part of the fun of having sex is making the bedsprings squeak and shake.

I have a feather mattress. Yeah.. like the old time ones. I've slept and rested better on it than I ever did on any other type mattress.

I've noticed that feather mattresses are becoming more widely available and becoming more popular.

I'm in the industry and would go with a serta or sealy mid range. Top of the line usually has useless features like wool and silk in the pillow top.
Settling or compression of the foam on top is normal and they call it "nesting so the thicker pillow top on a Euro top will settle deeper.
A plush or firm, saving even more money would be better.
I would buy it from Sears if they are the same as they are up here in Canada. If there is something wrong they'll take anything back.....LOL

They just opened one in Colorado - I laughed at everyone who was ranting and raving about their furniture.

A store like that you don't buy stuff unless you need knick-knack's like a crappy side table to put outside or some wall hanging or a decorative pot to put on your counter..

I'm going to miss my mattress once I return back to Toronto. She's a queen sized and she's like the silent third partner when it comes to sex...

There's a reason that mattress stores let buyers try before they buy and even offer exchange policies. Just walk into your local mattress store, even a "Sleepys" chain has the latest in mattress technology. It's easier laying on mattresses than, say, trying on running shoes. For condoms I'd get it, but why ask for mixed opinions on mattresses in an online forum?
