CASUAL SPORTS ETIQUETTE: Open sided shirts outside of the gym...

So I did my gym thing earlier today since it's my birthday and have family plans for tonight. I was reminded that I needed to stop by Dillons (the grocery store) and pick up my birthday cake. Dad usually has my name put on a cake, its cool, and so I head into the store without changing out of my gym clothes.... shorts, open sided gym shirt, shoes and socks.

Don't usually dress this way, but its another 105 degree day.. our 35th this summer and I have no intenton of changing into a nicer shirt. I got the cake and some other grocery items. Had a couple of people stare at me and 2 who asked if I'd been to the gym in this heat... I don't think I looked particularly out of place, but I was curious. I'd not go into a restaurant like this, but I really didn't care about the store.

Let me say, its nothing new for me to walk the dogs without any shirt... even out along 21st St (which is a major thoroughfare). When it's 94 degrees at 10:00 p.m...... I don't care about looking... perhaps, "appropriate" to some stuffy people.

So what's your store etiquette? Shoes certainly are absolutely required.

I usually have butt sexs in the middle of the store in the deep south. Because, you know, nothing can go wrong with that idea...

Maybe they're responding to you being sweaty and smelly, and not your clothes. Otherwise, you live in a Victorian village where the people are scandalized if you expose even your wrists, ankles, or neck.

I've run errands after the gym, and I know that I don't look or smell like a rose. If I have to run to the market, then I just run in and run out. If I go to the bank, I use the drive-through teller rather than going inside.

Store run in gym attire is fine.

Oh my god I just had this horrible flashback from college, I was the office assistant but was off hours in my painting studio in a tank and the shortest shorts ever, and I got invited out to this faculty lunch and I'm like uh I don't think I'm dressed for it, but got convinced to go....I felt like dirt the whole time at the restaurant, pulling my shorts down every 5 minutes because they were SO DAMN SHORT.

I probably wouldn't do flip flops, but I don't have an issue with it either, especially in this heat.

I felt like Rachel in that episode of Friends where she got cornered into going to a restaurant wearing only lingerie and afterwards she's like "no the best part was when the waiter spilled water down my back and when I jumped my boob popped out".

Yeah, if your gym shirt is so open that your nipples are showing, then it may be a little too much for shoppers to see at the market. icon_lol.gif

You're fucking lame dude. Nobody sees you in the middle of the store.

I do it on the checkout line. icon_twisted.gif

You didn't do anything wrong....it's probably the "prim and proper" clientele that approached you. If you had been dressed that way and walked into my Publix (my grocery store), you would have seen many other guys dressed the same way.

Do what you want as long as it isn't in pajamas. You know the ones that go to WALMART IN JAM PANTS AND MUFFIN TOP SHIRTS. HA...
For the ppl that asked if you went to the gym in this heat. My retort would be yeah, they have a/c in gyms.

I'm not that forward. He's got nice creamy skim and well defined muscles, including his serratus anteriors. His shirt will slip and you catch catch a glimpse of his nipple.
