    Great Southern Land by Icehouse.

Standing at the limit of an endless ocean
stranded like a runaway, lost at sea
city on a rainy day down in the harbour
watching as the grey clouds shadow the bay
looking everywhere 'cause I had to find you
this is not the way that i remember it here
anyone will tell you its a prisoner island
hidden in the summer for a million years

    Choral version

Wow! Iva Davies still sounds amazing. I was obsessed with Australian bands when I was in college, INXS, Midnight Oil, Split Enz, I know New Zealand, but still ;) , Hoodoo Gurus, Hunters and Collectors. Thanks for the trip back.

Translation01 of the lyricVIETNAM MY HOMELAND

Dear my friends, please come to our home
To see the vast ocean spreads out to the faraway horizon
And listen to the sound of the waves over the sea
See the Casuarinas on the shore dancing in the hard-blown wind
And the sails open their wings and cross out to the open sea
    Under the red burning sunlight

The south, my home, my country
With the coconuts trees farway over the horizon
The young girls are full of the youthful love
They have nice shapes and they are in the springs of their youth
A man’s heart here is as great as the vast open sea
With his arm he creates Heaven and Earth

And Springs has come to our homeland
Sweer sugar-canes, green tea, white cottons over the hill
The green rice field waving like the sea
Someone’s voice singing a lullaby for a child
The green rice field straighten up with the stork’s fly path
Bring the water to my little hometown

Vietnam my love with the green bamboo fences
Through the tea hills, the streams flow down to the rivers
The rivers join up and flow to the open sea
The youth are all enjoying their lives
As springs come, the life source is rising (/burning/boiling)
Oh my homeland, my Vietnam shines so bright

    Translation02 of the lyric
    VIETNAM MY HOMELAND

welcome you to our homeland, dear my friend
to see the blue ocean spreading out over the horizon
to hear the wave flutter, overbrimming the sea
full of wind, the sail crossing the ocean
in the dawing sun, blazes up brightly

to the south of our country
there are alotof coconut forests spreading out over the horizon
the young girl overflows with vitality
she is beautiful and optimistic in the future life
young and strong men withas great spirit as vast ocean
stretch out there arm to build our country

beautiful spring is reaching out country
with sweet sugarcane, green tea ang purely white flowers on the fence of the hills
with fields full of green rice floating as the sea wave
with the lullaby some mothe sweetly lulls her baby
non-restrain fields are full of green rice
with water leading to the fields, future will brighten significantly

our beloved Vietnam with green bamboo hetges
springs lead to rivers, going through tea milpas
    rivers lead to vast sea
young generations happily enjoy new life
when spring comes, sources of life is seething with enthusiasm
    Vietnam,my country,is brightening with halo

and oh, welcome to my country. =]

Well, there's no shortage of songs about America out there, so I think I'll skip that. I'll instead post one of my former motherland - Spain.

This song is specifically about Andalucía, the main southern region in Spain (where I was born). It's called "Verde, blanca, verde" (Green, White, Green) referencing the green & white flag of Andalucía.
