Textersations are 100% impossible with an old flip-phone. I try to reply to one text, and people send 3-5 more texts while I'm replying to one, making it impossible to type anything on the stupid multi-tap keypad, because incoming texts hang up the phone and I have to start over.

So when you people with the super-fast phones are texting people, think about what kind of phone they're using. Don't assume everyone has a phone that types as fast as yours. Textersations are a good way to make me ignore you cause I can't keep up.

Nah, I ain't buying a new phone just to make other people happy.
If they want me to text faster, they can buy me a new phone...and pay the bill.

I have a better idea, UPGRADE YOUR PHONE! Seriously studly, asking everyone to wait is like trying to pee very slowly, it ain't gonna happen in this instant gratification

That's the only way people wanna communicate nowadays. It's like people forgot how to pick up the damn phone and talk.

I deliberately delay my text replies or leave my phone in another room and some people get my point. If it's so important they should call me and the phone isn't grafted to my hand 24/7 so don't expect me to be on call.

This doesn't seem like a real problem. Are you texting more than one person at a time?

Nope, it works fine for what I NEED it for.
If my slow texting gets on people's nerves, they can buy me a new phone.

That's what I do; but about 90% of the time they text back (while it's ringing) saying they can't talk for whatever reason.

But really, I'm not gonna spend my hard-earned money to replace my phone just to make a few people happy. I don't like texting much anyway (have to do it for work), so even with a faster phone I'd only send a few messages then suddenly stop responding 'cause I have a life and don't wanna waste it away on a phone.

Just text people in riddles. That way by the time they figure out what you're saying, it'll be a few minutes later...

    Maybe.

I agree with delayed response. Classical conditioning to ensure that they slow down their text response with you at least.

I only do this to my partner because I know it bugs the shit out of him but I'll text him a question and then 2 seconds later text back "hello?" and then 5 seconds later text back "HELLO?" Gets him every time. :-) It keeps our relationship fresh. lol

WTF could possibly be so important????

Shawnathan saidI am using a phone to write this, and I think that people with smartphones should use proper english to send texts. That will slow their typing, help them think about what they are trying to say, avoid ambiguity and help them seem moderately intelligent.

My partner is a text'ng fool...think he has had 3 or 4 new phones to keep up, while I'm still using the same ole one. It pisses him off when, as soon as, he text me I call him...the new phone pisses me off, because I can hear all the texts he is getting while we're talking; the last time I just hung up.

I have to agree with you man. People use texting as if it's an instant messaging program like AIM or YIM. Sounds to me like the impatient person texting you should be the one calling. You shouldn't be pressured to text at their speed or call them if they don't have the patience to wait for a response.

Lol okay why are you dropping this on us.
Just copy/paste what you just said to your friends who are annoying you with their texts.

It's 2011. Everyone texts. And everyone owns a phone which you can type fast with.

Just get a new phone or tell them to stop texting you.

That being said, I do think that it gets annoying when people text too fast. At some point you have nothing to say.
But oh well, people who answer 24 hours later are pretty annoying too.

    Agreed.

Plus, I've been texting since I was 13 which means 6 years ago.
Come on. I think you've waited enough. It's time to get a new phone.
