Positioning himself as a candidate for presidency, Rommney offers his input to the deal. He rejects the deal because it would lead to tax increases and cuts in the defense. Both of which are objections that conservatives have.

It has been observed that the country has become even more divisive over the years, forcing President Obama to make concessions. With the country needing a leader to close the gap, it appears that Rommney has further distanced himself for that role.

Independent centrists who are key to winning the election will compare the two and see Obama has made compromises, unlike Rommney who has just now shown centrists that he cannot be that kind of President.

I'm disappointed that Romney seemingly took the safe route and kept his mouth shut during the critical time --- showing no real courage, conviction, or leadership on this matter -- then had the gall to voice his opinion in the 11th hour. This is a situation in which everyone -- Dems & Republicans -- ended up looking really REALLY poorly.
