+1 on staying away from veggie meats. If you're going to be vegan/vegetarian, stay away from unfermented soy. In addition to the possibly carcinogenic phytoestrogens found in soy products, it also will at as a nutrient blocker and can do bad things. A girl in my class ended up with anemia due to her heavy consumption of unprocessed soy. Avoid soymilk, soy protein, soy flour, edamame and so on. Things like miso and soy sauce are good.
Black beans, adzuki beans, pinto beans, and navy beans are better choices, and will be cheaper as well. They contain decent amounts of fiber and micronutrients, so will fill you up and give you what you need. Combined with rice or other grains, and you'll have complete proteins.
If you're still getting dairy, then concentrate on stuff like Greek yogurt, milk, and cheeses. Don't go overboard on them, but since they're good sources of protein in your diet, you should pay attention to how much you're getting.
