I would guess at least an hour 5 days a week.

    Mix cardiovascular and weight training.
Eat healthy and at a slight calorie deficit.
Spread ur meals out to 6-8 small meals that always contain protein, healthy carbs and good fats.
Cut out all flour (bread/pasta) and sugar (except natural sugar found in things like fruit and milk)
Try to replace things with healthier options. For example when I make sandwiches (i know I said no bread, but I cheat sometimes) I used to like as much dressing as possible and load up on sugar (honey mustard, teriyaki, ect.) Or bad fats like mayo. Now I eat sandwiches with olive oil and vinegar, salt, pepper and banana peppers and it tastes great.
Try to eat fatty fish a few days a week like salmon. If not then take omega fat supplements.
If u must cheat do it for breakfast or post weightlifting meal. Nighttime cheating is the worst u can do.

Diet alone will help u lose weight much faster and more efficiently than exercise alone. But both together is best.

Go see a nutrition expert. Too much soy protein is bad for cancer rates in men. And ur veggy meats r prob all soy. U need complete proteins or to combine foods to get all the amino acids u need. I do not know much about this because I love meat lol (both kinds)

I heard chickpeas were good for their completeness.

Try googleing vegetarian bodybuilding and I'm sure u can find a good diet.

+1 on staying away from veggie meats. If you're going to be vegan/vegetarian, stay away from unfermented soy. In addition to the possibly carcinogenic phytoestrogens found in soy products, it also will at as a nutrient blocker and can do bad things. A girl in my class ended up with anemia due to her heavy consumption of unprocessed soy. Avoid soymilk, soy protein, soy flour, edamame and so on. Things like miso and soy sauce are good.

Black beans, adzuki beans, pinto beans, and navy beans are better choices, and will be cheaper as well. They contain decent amounts of fiber and micronutrients, so will fill you up and give you what you need. Combined with rice or other grains, and you'll have complete proteins.

If you're still getting dairy, then concentrate on stuff like Greek yogurt, milk, and cheeses. Don't go overboard on them, but since they're good sources of protein in your diet, you should pay attention to how much you're getting.

He wasn't referring to soy allergies, but to the estrogen mimicking and subsequent increased risk of cancer. Like all things, moderation is best.

Being vegetarian, you're likely eating a fair amount of carbohydrate, which for many people, doesn't sate the appetite very well. So, one thing you could try is eating smaller meals more frequently. In a day, eat the same number of calories that you would over the course of the typical three meals, but have them as five or six meals, spaced out evenly throughout the day.

Find that balance between eating healthy and exercising right. I had tendency to loose or gain weight easily and have for most of my life till college been skinny or fat. But for past 3 years I have been able to manage my weight between 155 and 165lbs. In these fours years my body fat has gone from 11% to 6.7%. For me cardio 3 times a week around 20-25 mins works just fine. Find out what works best for you and stick to it.
