It's back to school time and most communities are sponsoring supply drives to provide school supplies to needy children. I've been teaching on the elementary school level for 8 years and have seen first-hand the immediate stigma placed on children who can't start the year with even the most basic supplies. (Not to mention the individual teachers' lists placed in Walmarts and Targets that get more extensive and ridiculous each year). If you can, skip your trip to Starbucks this weekend or put together the change in your pockets and purchase a backpack (probably the most needed item) or some notebooks or pens and drop them off at your local drive. I know Pepsi and Walmart are sponsoring Pack the Bus events this weekend and next in many communities. You might not get a thank you from the kid you helped but you will be making a BIG difference this school year. Thanks.(And if you see me helping collect donations this Saturday and next in central VA say hi).If this is in the wrong forum section someone tell me where to move it.

Update: The Salvation Army is accepting supplies and CASH donations to fill backpacks for needy children. There will be another Walmart/Pepsi Pack the Bus event this weekend in a lot of cities. Please help if you can.
