Normally I'm not one to whine, but I just feel like crap lately. I'm being forced to work about 80 hours per week for two months, and I'm currently 5 weeks in. I'm starting to feel like I can't handle this anymore.

I only get to lift once per week, and so far I've gained 6 lbs of pure fat via stress eating. I guess that's not much, but it compounds the shittyness. Moreover, I don't get to see my friends anymore, and my apartment is absolutely filthy. Maybe I should just pay someone to clean my apt and do my laundry? It's driving me crazy.

I even fell asleep while standing up last week and woke up on the ground. icon_cry.gif That çan't be healthy. Even when I have time to sleep, I can't fall asleep stress induced insomnia (and caffeine probably).

Ok, that's pretty much the end of my ranting. Guess I feel slightly better. Thanks for listening. icon_neutral.gif

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, that "çan't" be healthy.
What do you do for a living?
I used to have those hours (as a resident)...I just sucked it up because I thought there was light at the end of the tunnel. Turns out to be just a little better (50-55 hours per week) now.
My saving grace was to never, ever drink coffee. Tea is much easier to recover from.
And as soon as I finished residency, the ACGME comes up with rules that dictate 40-50 hours per week for residents. icon_evil.gif

I agree, the hours lead to more medical mistakes.... really health care seems to be understaffed up there

    80 hours of work
Plus 56 hours to sleep is 136
32 hours left to commute, shower, etc.
    Workouts will help you sleep.
    Make the time.
And you're on the downhill run at 5 weeks in.

You are not being forced to do anything.

Yeah, you are already past the point of being able to handle working that much. You need to cut your hours. No job is worth your health bud.
