Saw it today. Thought it was great. A good story to go with the CG effects. Infinitely better than Tim Burton's remake 10 yrs. ago. (But this one's a prequel.)

They've had all the other Planet of the Apes movies on marathon without commercials. Got them all. Remember going to the movies to see them.

It was decent, not great, but not bad. What was with the ending? Like after the credits started rolling, I was confused.

It is a very entertaining version and the apes are incredible. It was explained how the apes became more intelligent but what they missed was how the humans lost theirs and their voices. Maybe there will be a sequel to the prequel

It was just trying to show that the virus spread worldwide. It kills humans and makes apes smart. Perfect setup for the next chapter.

It's definitely on my "to do" list for this weekend! I've heard much about it and sounds great!

I saw it at a midnight showing and I thought it was absolutely incredible.
It had a great story and it was kind of like the old saying of "be careful of what you create for it could turn against you" the old Frankenstein theory.

This movie looks so horrible. How do the apes get organized? what are they doing in SF? WTF IS GOING ON!

If you want to see hotness with a capital H go see "CRAZY STUPID LOVE". Ryan Gosling is to hot for words in it, and the movie is awesome!

P.S. Saw "Apes" and I thought it was horrendous as was James Franco. Special FXs were pretty amazing, but that's where it ends

Because Tim Burton is talented but his movie was so much worse than the original.

I'm only excited to see if because of James Franco.

James Franco looks hot in this.

    His gf is hot too.

As to references about the ending, and without giving anything away, it alludes to how the apes eventually become the dominant species on Earth. Actually a quite believable scenario.

    Spoiler Alert:

The guy in the helicopter points out Caesar on the bridge even though he never actually seen him or knew about his existence. Overall, it was a pretty entertaining movie. You had to feel bad for the neighbor guy. He seemed to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time!! icon_biggrin.gif

as a kid I watched the Planet of the Apes movies on wabc channel 7 nyc 's 4:30 movie. They would dedicate a whole week to these movies and I would always look forward to them. Even had the lunchbox.

The first one of course the best including the relevation at the end and I also thought the 2nd one Beneath the Planet of the Apes was solid especially because I had the hots for James Francisus who was a better and younger looking version of Charlton Heston. Escape From the Planet of the Apes when Zira and Cornelius traveled back to present time was solid as well but the other two dont hold up as well especially the last one which really went cheap on the ape suits.

The Walhberg remake was just bad.

I was cautious about this one but will see it soon since the reviews seem to be positive and possibly sets the franchise up for more sequels

I liked it, and the CG was surprisingly good. It was definitely better than the Marky Mark remake from a few years back. (I've also seen all 5 of the original "Planet of the Apes" movies.)

This one was a lot better than the Tim Burtons. CGs were pretty good although they did look slightly out of place during certain scenes...

Spoiler alert (simply highlight the blank space below)

Did anyone caught the Icarus easter eggs

Also when the animal keeper malfoy said 'Get your hands off of me you damn dirty ape'

To think Tim Burton was once my favorite director. Sheesh! After his Willie Wonka and Planet apes ... No more Tim Burton for me.
"Mars Attack" ranks as one of the worst movies ever.

I agree, most of the originals were good. . . I too liked James Franciscus in the lead for the 2nd one, he was way better than Charlton Heston (who I always thought was really unattractive, even nasty-looking).

BTW, Franciscus died around 1989 or so, very young, age 58. . . emphysema (I guess he smoked).

Escape was very, very good, liked that one a lot.

The last in the original series was very bad, looks like they had no budget whatsoever for it.

saw this today and loved it. Along with Insidious this was the best movie of the year for me so far. Thought the CGI was spot on, loved how most of it revolved around the apes point of view and the emotion conveyed in the apes face sealed the deal for me. Kept me thoroughly entertained and on the edge of my seat throughout, was fast paced, never getting bored and thats tough for a movie to do.

This movie sort of didnt have a lot of buzz leading up to it. but now two weeks at #1, I think a sequel is likely. Loved the nods to the original with Caesar doing a Charleton Heston, playing with a Statue of Liberty replica, and the orangetean being named Maurice...in the original the first name of the actor who played the orange dr zeius was maurice..oh and also they named Caesars mother Bright Eyes..that was what Zira called Charleton Heston in the first movie.
