Have you ever done anything to a homophobe to get them back? Well...i did. This guy who who is a member of my gym, who is always making comments at or about gay people, is attempting to become a fitness model (WBFF) and he's looking to be a spokesperson for an exercise machine company like Boflex. It's a contest on Facebook. You have to vote for the next spokesperson to win. On the comments section of his picture, I called this guy out for being a homophobic bully. I feel really good about it. But, am i a jerk for doing this? I feel really good that this douche got called out for this. I can't tell you how many f-bombs this guy had dropped at gay men. I said that i would not purchase anything this company offers if this guy is chosen. I feel i am a jerk, but sometimes you have to do things like that.

Have you ever done anything like that?

Well, if he truly IS a homophobe...and makes anti-gay comments just to show his distaste for gay men... I think it's perfectly OK for you to "out" him.
After all, wouldn't he most likely do the same to you for being the blunt of one of his anti-gay comments???

Honestly - I would probably have a stronger opinion in your favor if YOU were not in fact a faceless, empty profile.

I agree in essence with the "stand" you are taking - but anonymous shouts of "justice" from the hidden dark shadows negates most of the validity they may have.

Agreed! Though a lot would depend on what and how you said it. If it was constructive criticism in an effort to enlighten or educate the guy about is homophobic behavior, that's one thing. However, if it was a nasty bitchy tongue lashing that came off as vindictive and spiteful, that would be quite another, since that doesn't really accomplish much.

Maybe you could provide the link to the Facebook competition in which you commented so we can see how it played icon_lol.gif

My guess is if you were the model contestant, he'd be the type of guy to make a critical or phobic comment about you. So no worries.

The company is free to still pick him, anyway. But at least if he gets them in bad PR later on for his douchy actions, they can't say they weren't warned.

Well I'd be careful what you say in writing on something like Facebook.
It must be absolutely true to more than just you... to the public in general at your gym. The reason why I'm pointing this out is.. he could file a libel suit should he lose his opportunity based on what you said.

Now the above isn't a reflection as whether I think you should or should not do it. I actually chuckled. It sounds like he deserved it without doubt. Just be careful about the means you choose for retribution.

    If this is a true story, I don't think you're a jerk

What's this aspiring fitness model's name?

Yep, as I posted here before. I was having cocktails at a shopping mall bar, waiting for my late partner to finish his Christmas shopping.

A guy next to me stuck up a conversation, he was waiting for his wife to do her shopping. We got along quite well. But then some CNN gay news item came up on one of the TVs over the bar, and he started talking about "fucking gays" and just slamming us in every way you can imagine, a real Christian Fundamentalist. I remained calm & noncommittal.

His wife joined us, I said hello to her, and a moment later my partner came over. We all had drinks together, most cordial. When we left, though, I said in a very loud but conversational voice (I have a degree in Speech, I know how to project my voice): "Well, goodbye, nice to have met you and your wife. BTW, you do know you've been having drinks with two gay guys, and we sleep in the same bed together? Merry Christmas!"

With that I departed, and rejoined my partner out in the mall. I told him what I said, and we laughed all the way to our car. Fuck straight bigots. And fuck guys on this site who defend them, like Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney, and a dozen more virulently anti-gay politicians, likely having the same attitude themselves.

fitness models and personal trainers who have problems with gay men are really in the wrong business. Who do they think is going to pay for their services? icon_rolleyes.gif

i would have done the same. he doesn't deserve to be a role model, which he kind of would be if he got the job. a lot of guys who work out would want to be like him and i don't think a homophobe would make a good impression.

i had an experiment at the biochemistry lab and the supervisor was kind of a homophobe. he said my test-results werent really accurate and stuff even though i had the expected results.
and then he said he doesnt accept results from guys "like me".
i told my professor about it and he got suspended immediately.

I just hope you didnt post it the way you do here. I rarely take anyone seriously that hides. If they dont have the balls to put who they are out there, then everything they say is suspect. However, to answer your question, I would have done the same thing. I doubt any company would want to be associated with him, if not just for PC reasons.

I thought about posting the link here. But, I felt that would be wrong. I just wanted to know opinions about the act, and also have you ever done that before? I felt I handled it well, by calling him out there, but plastering his pic all over the net would be spiteful and vindictive. That's not my attempt at all. Maybe I'm a hypocrite.

I have confronted him in person. I have many times.

No one's asking you to plaster his pic all over the internet. Besides, isn't this competition on FACEBOOK? I think it's already there :-)

NO - you know what I am referring to here. You have already over-looked opinions regarding your complete and total anonymity as well as one even questioning the validity of the story.

I personally hope you are what you present yourself to be. Again, you would have tons more support - and worthwhile opinions - if such important, vital matters were not being addressed from the deep dark shadows.

Oh I see, so posting a link to his Facebook page (which is already public anyway) is wrong, but slamming him on his Facebook page publicly, albeit anonymously, is okay??? Hmmmm, speaks volumes icon_lol.gif

I can't find a fitness model contest on Facebook. Did anyone else?
