    Hey guys!

The bf and I are hittin up NYC for the first time this weekend and we have a few ideas of things we want to see, but I was hoping you guys could also suggest some cool stuff to check out. Clubs, restaurants, museums, monuments, whatever!
And feel free to offer tips about places to avoid (either overrated or sketchy)..?

    Thanks! icon_smile.gif

The Discovery at Times Square is running the Pompeii exhibit.

It is pretty expensive IMO but I have heard very positive reviews. I plan on checking it out before it closes.

I would go to Southstreet Seaport. As for bars and clubs, just grab an hx magazine in any store and pick places. Blockheads is gay-friendly and good for cheap margaritas, vinyl is a cool diner and cafeteria has the best Mac and cheese (maybe not the best, but it's great.) if you want to go shopping for clothes, go to soho and the lower east side and they have movies in the park in different places like Bryant park on Wednesday's for example, which is nice.

    Clubs, restaurants, museums, monuments, whatever!

Outside! Its beautiful weather, okay well not really but the mornings and evenings are nice ;)

-A walk in central park if the weather is nice is always good

-Watch the sunset at the Hudson river park, on 23rd street is a field/place to sit

I'm partial to the Museum of Modern Art if that is your thing. Guggenheim is good as well. The nice thing about NYC is all our major museums are pretty much concentrated in the same place.

Monuments -- meh. If you want to stand in line to go over on the ferry to the statue of liberty....and then stand in line to go up, go for it icon_razz.gif

If the weather is clear, and neither one of you have been here before, you can check out the empire state building

Restaurants -- The bread the butter of NYC. You can eat at a new restaurant everyday and not have tried them all for 12 years icon_razz.gif

I like Elmo and Cafeteria for lunch/dinner. There are some great places in Greenwich village too.

Clubs -- For gay clubs there is splash, monster, and lots of other options. My favorite thing to do is bar hop in manhattan around st. marks, east village, and west village.

You will see so much of the city just by walking around and being here!

    Enjoy icon_smile.gif

I would go to the TKTS booth under those stairs in time square and pick up some broadway show tickets for a discounted price. Then have dinner at some of the many restaurants in Hell's Kitchen before or after the show. They willl keep you occupied for a good 5 hours at least. If you're doing a evening showing then you can head to the bars and club in Hell's Kitchen.

    Restaurants:
    Ippudo
    Pure Thai
    Balthazar
    Babbo
    Per Se
    Public

I could go on and on but those are some of my favorites. They are a little pricey but if youre just visiting then they are worth trying. NYC has some of the best non-asian restaurants.

    Popular gay clubs:
    Therapy
    Industry
    Bartini
    Splash

Central park has tons of things to do and its huge.

    have fun.

AWESOME suggestions guys! I did so much research but it's always better to hear from people that have actually been there and experienced it so thanks!

I leave tonight so we'll see how much I can squeeze in while I'm there

    Thanks again!

    Museums:
    MoMA
    The Met
    Guggenheim
    AMNH
(in no particular order ... or not)

    Food:
Holey Cream: ice cream donut sandwich
    Sprinkles Cupcakes: gourmet cupcakes
    S'Mac: gourmet mac and cheese
    (in no particular order)

If you are going to be a fatass, at least be classy about it like me.

    Have fun icon_biggrin.gif

    Bars - Industry, Therapy, Bartini
Retaurants - Elmo (sceney but fun), Arriba Arriba on Friday nights (Mexican, gay clientele, DJ, very busy at times), Five Points for Brunch, or Agave.

    Other places to note:
The Hudson River Parks on the westside are great this time of year, and stop in at the Frying Pan. You could easily start at 42nd, walking south leisurely and end up at the Highline / Meatpacking District.
