I just assume everybody is homophobic, unless they demonstrate otherwise. I'm keeping my secret from my trainer even though he is very cute.

I think bodybuilders can be a little denfensive over people questioning their sexuality just because they are so heavily into their appearence and muscularity

It certainly seems to on some body building forums... About every fifth post on bodybuilding.com is somewhere along the lines of...

"Dude, your body is ripped and lean and makes my mouth water. No Homo"
    oh, and...
Pithy signature line with some remark about how I'll kick your ass for being faggy.

I used to go to the Gold's gyms in Los Angeles. In Hollywood, most of the patrons were/are gay. In Venice, some were gay, most were straight. In NoHo, most were straight, it is surburban, residential. Where there are mostly straight men, there is homophobia. It's not the third reich or anything, just stupid locker room talk. I think if you went to gyms in the rural parts of this country, the homophobia is more extreme.

I go to Golds in the Castro. There was one guy I hit on, he ended up being straight, and I was like "Dude, this is a gay gym...Dont you notice how there are ZERO chicks around?"

and he was all like "WTF, This is a gay gym?"

yea, that may or may not have happened...

Look, first off I have no personal knowledge of either. Having made my disclosure, I assumed most models were gay and thought many bodybuilders were.

it depends on where you work out. i used to work out in muscleworks, and there was a LOT of homophobia there. i work out now in jubilee hall, and nearly everyone is gay.

Some, but it seems like each gym has its own "culture." With my ex, I'd go to gyms here in California, and in Utah (Ogden) and South Dakota too. I never got even a hint of homophobia in the gyms in Utah and South Dakota, strangely enough.

In seven years, I had two incidents: one was just some guy saying he hates gays but "America loves them" (wtf?), and the other guy would pretend to talk to his friend on his cell phone about these "sickening faggots." I got that guy's membership canceled. Wasn't gonna put up with that.

Most everyone seems really friendly, especially guys who are serious about their workout. Maybe it's different in other parts of the country.

Bodybuilding.com is basically a subforum of 4chan. I wouldn't put too much stock in the opinions of its members.

Meh- it's also full of 16-year-old 130 lb hormone-filled teenagers.
