Are you going to vote Democrat or Republican in the next presidential election? Also, what percent of gay men do you think vote each way. (Naturally, there are some who swing both ways:)

Please include a brief description of why you intend to vote the way you do and how important gay issues are as a factor in your decision.

Here's a gratuitous beefcake shot of a young congressman from Illinois.

BTW His name is Aaron Schock.
    PPS Any hope he's gay?

Probably Obama for president. Not all Republicans are bad, but I see nothing good among the ones that have a chance of getting the nomination. Gay rights are not the only thing I look at, but it is an important thing. Those that seem to have a chance of getting the Republican nomination are not going to just sit back and not doing anything about gay rights, but are going to actively work against gay rights by pushing for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage thus taking it away from the states that already have it. Some have even said they will try to reverse the repeal of DADT. As I said, not all the candidates are terrible, but let's be real- Fred Karger and Gary Johnson do not have a chance in hell of getting the nomination.

Yes to Feingold or for Mr Sanders from Vermont

I am so disgusted with the weakspined Obama that I will probably avoid the exercise in futility of voting, unless of course Bachmann, Palin, Perry or Santorum becomes the Repub candidate. (I've always voted, but I've never been so put out as I am now with American Politics)

anyone else feel like this ?

I lean strongly toward Reallifedad's opinions... But on the whole, I wouldn't vote for a Republican dogcatcher, given all the toxic morons that would ride in behind a GOP winner. Moreover, while I feel the Dems are pretty futile, I'd rather have elected officials who in my view, err on the side of generosity, than ones who tend to pander to the religious right, Big Money and general bigotry.

Exit polls show that self-identified gay or bi voters definitely lean democratic relative to voters generally. In a Democratic year, they are very strongly Democratic, and in Republican year, they are strongly Democratic.

Here in California, this is probably even more true. Certainly the precincts in SF, West Hollywood, and Palm Springs known to have gay majorities are solidly Democratic.

I mostly vote Democratic because there are some in the Democratic Party I agree with mostly, but there are no Republicans I can think of that I mostly agree with. Sometimes I vote for a third party candidate if I find the Democrat particularly objectionable.

I agree, no matter how disgusted I am with Obama, he'll get my vote if Bachmann, Palin, Perry or Santorum is the nominee. Hell !!! I'll probably set aside my disgust and exercize my privelege of voting regardless, because actually not voting this time around in particular, is a vote for the party more likely to give ear to one of the above religious nutcases.

    Well, let's see:

    - US Republicans are against all gay civil rights. They even oppose enacting hate crime laws against gays.
    - Republicans want a Constitutional amendment against gay marriage, that will also prevent any kind of civil unions or gay relationships of any sort.
    - Republicans in several States have Party platforms proposing that merely being gay is a prosecutable crime.
    - Republicans oppose the repeal of DOMA, and have fought and tried to block the rescinding of DADT.

Democrats hold opposite views about gays. ummm... I'll have to think about this for a while... NOT. icon_rolleyes.gif

If Ron Paul is still on the list come primary vote in Alabama, I'll vote Ron Paul - but I seriously doubt he makes it farther than S. Carolina.
