The reason a mother bird shoves food down a baby bird's throat is because the baby bird isn't mature enough to swallow it by itself.

Society is still a baby bird.

why not? gay marriage happens and they're just putting it on display. if they told you what to think or were putting something intense on display than it would shoving it down people's throats.... almost..

    I voted no.

Like one of the comments said.

"Seasame Street is for ABC's and 123's."

Doing this is shoving it down kids throats when their parents need to be teaching them ACCEPTANCE....Notice I didnt say Tolerance.

    Ditto.

This will just piss off straight people . We want gay marriage accepted not made fun of via cartoons.

There are too many little old grammies who will not think sex - gay or straight- should be brought to a 5 year old. We will win eventually because the 5 year old will find nothing wrong with classmates having two dads or two moms, but lets keep the discussion on a more mature level.

I'm sorry but that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Why in the world would we force our gay agenda on children? I completely understand the logic about teaching kids equality. In the end though, they are all just friends on Sesame Street. I do not ever recall a relationship on the Street. I think they do a good enough job teaching kids about equality and acceptance. Let's just leave it alone.

Why allow a religious agenda to be forced on children?

    This.

I'd vote no on this as well. This has no place in sesame street, it has nothing to do with the point of the show. It's stuff like this that really just deepens my already sour opinion on the gay community as a whole.

Just because it's not legal on the Streets of Sesame doesn't mean they aren't already married.

The problem I have is that they weren't expressly conceived as gay partners when the characters for the show were developed (unless I'm missing something where the original creators of the characters documented somewhere they were). They only "seemed" gay because they were both male and always together. Therefore we impose on them our perception and make that the reality. I know this sounds muddled but I swear I have a good point icon_razz.gif

They're not gay. They're fictional characters on children's TV. If you want to be technical, they are roommates. People need to stop pushing sex on children. It's disgusting. Allow children retain their innocence and have a real childhood.

yep... welcome to most of the dogma preached on shows like GLEE and written by activists who make it their goal to out others... the hypocrisy of their own intolerance and coercing their will on others, also insisting any behavior considered rude or obnoxious is exempted for their double standard.

"preach equality and live it" is my motto... no double standards or hypocrisy necessary.

there's no indication bert and ernie are or ever were gay and therefore it has nothing to do with 'society' -- but to declare and decide that this is something that needs to be forced and coerced is pretty damn ridiculous.
there are far better ways to introduce (as if it hasn't been already) and share our relationships and what we value with society.

It's going to be forced and coerced no matter what. We'll either force and coerce our way to acceptance, or they'll force and coerce us to go back in the closet and keep our mouths shut and our boyfriends secret.
