The NY Times has released a gallery of the 30 brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Afghanistan helicopter crash last week. So sad to see these handsome, smiling faces and to know that those men are gone.

I agree with your sentiments. Though a slight correction: most of them weren't soldiers, which is a term for members of the Army. They were Navy sailors, and specifically members of the elite SEALS. I know they'd want to be remembered as brave & heroic sailors.

Well this time around I am not going to hide my true feelings, It hurts me all over to see these pictures. This is a god damn shame to see these very handsome, strong and viral young mens lives wasted over our millitary complex Ideas of necessary interference for other motives than just terror.

These young men now will not get to use their strength and virility to make their way in this life to love, to be loved, to accomplish their desires, to use their brains for the betterment of themselves and those they love. They will not get the privilege of having children and grandchildren and share the joy of that part of life with their wives, partners or their own parents and friends.

For what did our country take them into danger ? We are not safer or better off for these last 9 years or so of this wasteful conflict, The original purpose which was reasonable should have been taken care of in the first year or so and then saw us out of there years ago. Which part of access to oil and oil pipelines was worth losing all these young mens lives, or worth this wars share of the debt and negative affects on our economy.

Its god damned insanity to keep this shit up and keep risking and or taking young mens and womens lives. The citizens of our country should be in the streets pushing for an end to this madness.
