love Jersey, wouldnt live anywhere else. The best part is while all those stereotypes do indeed exist here, there is so much more to the state that only those who live here know

If you let reality television dictate the representativeness of an entire [immigrant] state as well as the corpus of pop culture, that is just sad. Jersey has so much turn-over at both ends of the socioeconomic spectrum a ghetto is no more an apt shorthand of the state than is Tony Soprano's McMansion.

Jersey has a lot of very underrated, very cute, very smart, and mild-mannered Italian/Jewish boys in stark contrast to the guido spiky hair prats with streaky orangesicle-colored skin, stupid sunglasses, and black wifebeater that Viacom chose to illuminate as representatives of our peer group.

Q: Why does Jersey have the most toxic waste dumps and California have the most attorneys when compared to the other states?
A: New Jersey got to pick first icon_lol.gif

    To put things into perspective..
There are/were wanna-be quidos in Sweden. And this was way before Jersey Shore hit the airwaves. I'm sure there are more in other countries. icon_lol.gif

When I talk to New York natives they ask if I'm from Jersey. HAHHAHAHA...I guess I have a natural pompous douche bag attitude. icon_biggrin.gif

the jersey shore cast is from long island.

only people in south jersey act like that. The north and central parts are very very different.

I was in NJ for 6 weeks doing a rotation for school. After getting my haircut I made the mistake of telling the lady I would take some gel in my hair after she asked. A few minutes later I walked out of there with a hardcore jersey blowout. It took two showers to get all the gel out! Gotta love Jersey!

Jersey's always had a bad rep and don't make any judgments until you've been there to see what it's like. I grew up there and it's the best place to be. We're right in the middle of Boston and DC with New York and Philly less than an hour from central Jersey. We also have the Jersey Shore in the Summer. In the winter we can go skiing in the Poconos in PA or Catskills in NY or go up to New England which is less than 5 hours away. And don't forget all the history that took place in Jersey!!

Yes, there are people like those you see on the TV shows...but remember, it's just a TV show and most of that crap is all scripted. I don't even watch it cause I'm embarrassed.

Take a trip to Jersey and you'll see what "Jersey Fresh" really means!

I grew up in WAYYYY northern NJ in the middle of the woods. Black bear and deer walk the street in my lake community, and it takes a while to drive anywhere because everything is back roads. I also passed farms on my way to school everyday.

I REALLY DO want to go to see it for myself cuz alllll of my Jersey friends, first, are not Italian, and second use proper English! BOOM two stereotypes down!
