Has anyone ever googled gay themed topics? If so what interesting things did you find? I was having a conversation with my mother earlier and it got me to thinking what would she find if she searched for the phrase "help my son is gay." The results of the search were appalling! It made me realize how much fear and hatred there still is toward us and how rationality typically goes out the window for heteros who try to understand us.

And my relationship with my mother is great btw, and she wonders why I haven't been bringing home any boyfriends.

So anyone else find interesting/good/bad things about gays on google?icon_question.gif

There's a world of propaganda and misinformation out there and the internet is completely unfiltered. It's a huge repository for the opinions and writings of people who are quite possibly mentally ill. This is especially true when it comes to the topic of homosexuality. And the internet is the main battleground in the so-called "culture war" where competing sides are trying to gain ground in the marketplace of ideas.

Many people still credulously believe what the church tells them, that homosexuality is disordered, it comes from demon possession, or it's a mental illness. They also believe it's a choice. They believe that all people are heterosexual and that some choose to rebel against God's authority be being homosexual.

When viewed from this perspective, you can understand the desperation and hysteria behind their writing. But that only explains it. It doesn't justify it.

However, too many people have forgotten the importance of thinking for themselves and questioning why they believe what they believe and whether it's justified.

On the other forum listed above, about the gay students being outed, one comment read: "The "gay" students were already suffering, mentally. What kind of person would be stupid enough to think it is okay or even possible to sexually "love" someone of the same sex?"

Given the chance, I'd like to ask her, "Tell me what is inherently wrong about two people of the same sex loving each other?" Why would anyone believe there is something "wrong" with this unless they've been systematically brainwashed their whole life?
