That is insane looking! Bjork makes it look effortless...whereas Gaga always tends to look like she's trying too hard.

those 2 shouldnt even be mentioned in the same breath. gaga is a overly produced manufactured dime a dozen chick who made it. theres 10000 girls just like her who if given the money could be doing it equal or better. theres noone else in the world like bjork. in a few hundred years they will still listen to her music. fact.

I agree, but I think the comparisons (especially here at RJ) are inevitable. I was just beating them to the punch. That said...

Fever Ray > Bjork > Lady Gaga

I liked the simplicity of Medulla. Although I think this may be my favorite.

SUCH a hard question!!! but i think for album covers it's a tie between homogenic and post for me.

for non-album covers i always loved volumen:

    Bjork_volumen.jpg

and i LOVED the really bizarre collaboration she did with gabríela friðriksdóttir on family tree...

but concerning biophilia's cover... adunno. it hasn't grown on me yet... it doesn't pop out to me so much with a clear message like a lot of her other albums...
i love M/M Paris and their previous collaborations with bjork (ESPECIALLY the hidden place video which is amazing...), but everything they've done so far with biophilia has been pretty disappointing to me.

Disagree. Fever Ray is good, but it doesn't have that quality that Björk (with poet songwriter Sjón) have. Björk>Fever Ray>Lady Gaga

yeah, that's kind of how i feel too. i mean i LOVE fever ray, don't get me wrong... her first album is amazing, her work as the knife was great, and i think she has so much potential to be the same kind of musical/visual genius that bjork is... but whereas fever ray has created a stunning aesthetic planet, bjork has created a stunning aesthetic universe which is far more complex and profound than what fever ray has done so far.

and yeah i'm not going to even utter lady gaga's name in the same breath...

I suppose I'll concede that Fever Ray's single album can't compete with Bjork's complete oeuvre. Still, I think Fever Ray has created a sound that I've never heard before. And having seen her live, I find her aesthetic just as strong as Bjork's. Plus, I find her artistry to be more mature than Bjork (swan dress anyone?).

Those of you who have never seen Bjork's movie Dancer in the Dark, will be a bit confused by this clip. But it's a masterpiece. The music, the cinematography and the acting are incredible. This is one of my favorite Bjork songs.

dancer in the dark is one of my favorite movies of all time, if not my FAVORITE (i was kinda destined to love it, having been a bjork fan and lars von trier fan years before the movie came out...). this is one of the few movies where i can remember the entire audience sitting through all the credits sniffling or in total shock/silence, until the lights came on...
still haven't seen the movie more than twice though since then, it's such an intense experience.

This was a single cover, but it's one of her most striking videos and images...and one of my favorite songs to play while having sex!

It's gorgeous. It refers to a lot of the new instruments that Bjork created for the music.

So far though, I'm feeling lackluster on the sound. It's so far sounding like Vespertine 2.0. I want some uptempo. I liked Medulla and Volta having a mix of uptemp and gorgeous mid-tempo and ballads.

bjork guest edited the most/last recent issue of dazed + confused - lots of great interviews with people involved on the background process of the album.
