A few deer pics I took on a recent hike. Woke up the next day with 70 bug bites on my ankles from god knows what. It's a jungle out there!

Oh yeah, I am constantly checking for them. It's been a bad season for them here. One hike I had like 10 on me. Brushed them off and got home and stripped down and noticed one on my waist about to sink in. Yuck! Pulled off and showered. Like I said, it's a jungle out there. I coat myself with Deet but still...

When I was a kid I'd go out of bounds at the golf course and forage for balls to sell back to the golfers. Every time I got home I found at least 3 or 4 ticks working their way up my shocks, or my legs, or back... I took my best friend Kristen one time, (she's an Indian girl with a fortress of course tangled hair) and a 3 days later she had 2 ticks the size of cranberries chowing down on her head!!! It was pretty gross, especially because her mom made me take them out!!!

Wow, thanks handsome men. I thought these were kinda mediocre pictures, but the best group shots I could get so far.

They look like the evil, evil creatures that decimated the field at our farm. Some kind of deer fencing is in our future. Also, we just got a special permit to shoot the fuckers out of season. Now all we need is a gun. And to learn how to use it.

Beautiful animals but unfortunately the population of deer in my area (suburban Philadelphia, PA) is completely out of control. They are EVERYWHERE and they cause automobile accidents every day around here. You can barely drive down the road without seeing dead ones lying on the side of the road.

You asked for it! Both sides of both ankles looked like this. We're thinking now it was a chigger attack. Almost gone now.

In the first pic you can see a young male (short antlers). There were like eight deer total spread out. Around Christmas time I was driving on a highway to my sisters and saw, not kidding, about 20-30 deer standing and lying down on a hill. I went to the next exit and back around to get a picture, but by then they were gone. Shucks!

I think it was chiggers. I have gotten them a couple of times this summer and so have friends.

I grew up in Texas with chiggers everywhere but never ever noticed them in the DC area in the past 25 years. I suspect climate change. Seriously.
