I witnessed the other day someone being bullied and it pissed me off

Special request to all you returning to school in the next few weeks: If you see someone who is struggling to make friends or being bullied because he/she doesn't have many friends or because they are shy or not as pretty or not dressed in the most "in" clothes -- PLEASE step up. Say hi or at least smile at them in the hallway. You never know what that person might be facing outside of school. Your kindness might just make a BIG difference in someone's life!

I was bullied for all sorts of shit, including being "perceived" as gay in high school.
Well, up until I took a few months a taekwondo. Once I kicked an ass or two, they left me alone. icon_cool.gif

i never had an actual bully persay but got bullied plenty, i think everyone did at some point. in fact, my elementary school was so bad there are at least 3 kids i can think of that switched schools solely because they couldn't stand getting teased. bad in the eyes of a kid, i mean.

I never was really BULLIED. For a few years in middle school I got some comments here and there making fun of me for being an acne face. Still hurt, but a lot of people had it way worse than I did so I consider myself lucky, especially since that is all I was ever made fun of for.

honestly, i think they need to change their approach at schools, they expect you to not fight back and I even got in trouble for it once. in another situation i got hit in the head with a big ass rock by some dipshit little girl on the way home from school, I was 10, she was 7 or 8 i think. i didn't hit her back and instead cried and laid on someone's front lawn for awhile lmao. then when my mother brought it to the principal he said "you did the right thing nick! never hit a girl" and things like that. WTF, she hit me in the fucking head with a rock, she was obviously weaker than me but she more than deserved a slap in face.

they're giving it more power by making it out to be an issue like that. i don't condone fighting in the slightest but people should just defend themselves. also, i don't consider a dumb comment someone made once to be bullying.

TheGuyNextDoor saidSadly, I watch guys bully each other here in the threads.
Hiding behind their keyboards and making fun of someone because of their looks, advanced age, lack of singing talent, or general lack of desire to see their face in the threads. Why many stand back and just let these guys go on and on kinda surprises me. I think if more guys would speak up when they see someone getting picked on,, the bullies would either back off or get the boot.

If you see someone getting picked on in the threads.. Speak up.
I'll call a brother out in a heart beat and not fear your come back.
    Just sayin'

I know i;m one of the bullies well i was lol im hardly on anymore

My mom told me "If women want equal rights than treat us equal. If a girl is gonna act like a man and ball up her fist and hit you....Hit her back....If the school has a problem....Call mama."

I had more-or-less the same high school experience, except I was bullied for being fat, and a real social outcast. I really just didn't know how to express myself and my thoughts to people, so I came across as being very antisocial. I probably had the social skills of a box of nails, now that I think about it.

Still, I wasn't bullied by any one person in particular, it was more of a subtle form of bullying from a lot of people.

Yes, viciously. I was the youngest of my mom's first marriage. My older siblings were all born within a 5 tear span of each other, then I was born 4 years later. They always had their own friends growing up and there weren't kids around my age, so I grew up being a creative kid who used his imagination and played well on his own, usually on the fringe of older kids playing. As I got older and went to school, I was always the quiet outsider who didn't really fit in anywhere. Games of tag quickly became 'smear the queer', often with older kids joining in. It didn't help that I knew nothing about sports. I learned at a young age that there were no consequences for speaking to a teacher, it was just 'boys being boys' and the retaliation was worse. I can't tell you how many times my hand-me-down jeans needed to have rips and grass stains washed out. The whole thing really kind of fucked me up. I basically just kept to myself to keep safe. I'm still a quiet person to this day, not great with social nuances and unspoken things. It's hard to break that thought pattern, and at my age, "I should know better." I really only excel when I am in a situation with set parameters and expectations.

I was bullied in middle school by other black kids for "talking white". Does that count?

Not really bullied, but was teased on from time to time for being "girly," but it never made me go crazy or anything, sometimes sad, but nothing huge. I learned very early on to ignore what people say.
