I'm sure some of us have a drawer/closet/garage full of old electronics.. ipods, computers, cell phones, 8-track players. Do you just toss it out with the rest of your trash? Or does your city offer e-waste collection?

If you have a Best Buy near you, you can take a lot of electronic waste to them and they will dispose of it properly. Pretty cool - you don't even have to have bought it from them.

My local recycling centre takes most things electronic/mechanical.

I'm looking out for the city recycling/dump day and will take a pickup truck load of junk--old computers, dead radios, enough computer keyboards to satisfy the kid who wants to take them all apart and find out why they do not work. Monitora! Yeesh!!!

One of the reasons I resist new electronics is just this. They turn into junk too quickly.

i put it by the E-road. If no one picks it up, the E-truck comes by once a week and picks it up .

but seriously, my town now has a local next to town hall where we can drop off all our old electronics .

LOL. If no e-scavenger comes along to grab my e-waste, then I get an e-notice from our trash service indicating that it's a prohibited item and they are unable to haul it away. icon_confused.gif

Currently I have two old computers that have been sitting dormant. Now that I finally have a docking station I'll take out the hard drives, copy the data to faster external drives, erase/format the original drives, and take them to Best Buy for disposal.

I take it all to the local nature preserve and bury it.

    I recycle them.

Except cell phones, I keep them for some reason. I just can't seem to part with something that has literally gone everywhere with me for years.

I never throw out my old electronics. I keep an electronics graveyard in my room. Seriously.

Good to see so many compassionate guys on here who'd rather make a buck than donate their old cell phone to help abused women who've moved out and into a shelter.icon_rolleyes.gif
