Somewhat of a spin-off from the Bodyfat % thread...

I sometimes think that a lot of guys with great bodies at low bodyfat don't look all that impressive when fully clothed, and you can only see they have a good body when they are naked/topless.

Whereas well-built guys who might have a little extra chunk will fill out a t-shirt really well but not be quite as ripped looking when they take it off.

Personally, I'd rather look well-built in clothes and look good filling out a t-shirt, fitted shirt etc, or nicely filling a pair of shorts, and when I'm naked not be so totally ripped you can see every individual muscle. Because I figure, if you look good clothed you'll still look good naked.

Whereas if you only look impressive when naked and when clothed no one can tell you have a good body, well is there much point? Not that many people are going to see you naked that often, generally!

What would you prefer? Obviously a mix of the two is the best, but you MUST CHOOSE ONLY ONE.

I'd rather look good naked. If you look good naked you will look good in clothing. Who cares who sees me I care and I know I feel better physically/healthwise when I look better.

I don't think this is true, hence the thread.

For example, there was a PT at my former gym who used to wear a polo shirt that covered the majority of his arms when he was working, but when he was there working out he would wear a tank top and his body was smoking, with great arms. You just couldn't tell at all that he was in such good shape when he was wearing the polo.

My goal is to create a shape that is pleasing both in and out of clothing.

Clothed. Man, I want to be able to look and dress like Ryan Gosling in "Crazy Stupid Love." Saw it tonight and he looks hot in everything, including an artfully-draped towel.

"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little influence in society." -- Oscar Wilde.

Of course mores have changed since Wilde's heyday. But many more people will see you clothed (one hopes) than naked.

    Clothed.

It's so hard to get unclothed either intentionally or accidentally in the hospital.

    I second that DAYAMN!

Though I think that torso needs a bit more fat. To be covered with my hot sticky man-fat, to be specific icon_twisted.gif

Is it because unless you're naked we can't see your huge dick?

That may have a role to play in it.

Tough choice. Probably clothed. I like my style and it isn't cheap.... but throw me a pair of shorts and thats cool too. It all works.

I rather look good naked. I prefer to walk around topless when I can plus it would be a pleasant surprise for any suitors who get to see me in the buff.

Hmmm, can't say that I've ever voted naked icon_eek.gif but I did go shirtless one year in just my running shorts. icon_biggrin.gif

Would you rather look good clothed or naked?

The operable word here for me is "rather" as a choice, instead of how does one actually look. I would answer clothed.

That's because clothed is how the world normally sees me. Even though I've been a member of gay naturist (nudist) organizations, and still use a nude beach here and frequent clothing optional gay resorts.

If my body was good enough to fill out my clothes nicely, I figure it'd be good enough to be seen unclothed, too. Of course nowadays I wouldn't look good in a totally darkened room. icon_sad.gif So for me this is definitely a "what-if" question.

Good question. I'm always concerned about this, lol. The same amount of money I have in my budget every month can either go to buying more supplements or go towards some new clothes. Over the last year the sups have won out about 90% of the time. Lately, since I'm nearing my size goal, I've been buying more clothes.

Today I will be wearing a new shirt and new polo pants to work today..... It's been so long to be wearing new clothes to work.....feels like my birthday, lol.

    my dear AD,

"sex appeal" is measured with the mind's eye, NOT with a tape measure.

i KNOW that you are aware of this.

    My dear mch,

I do think I am aware of this. But I took the question to refer mostly to body esthetics, rather than to sex appeal. Though I suppose in the gay world the two are virtually synonymous. icon_wink.gif

nekkid! I usually look okayish clothed but hate the way I look shirtless (15% body fat is not as aesthetically pleasing to me as I thought it would be, new goal is 10-12%).
