    Guys,

How would you handle a temp job boss who makes comments on my being gay, is rude and offensive and has the attitude that its a "sales environment so if you don't like it, go elsewhere".

Its not that easy to get temp work etc. I feel like thumping him, but I can't do that obviously.

If you have to have this job you should start with the temp agency to find out their policy on this sort of thing.

I would simply kick his ass and take the consequences.

I would not accept this behaviour. Bullies can often tell that they will get away with it. The longest any of them ever kept it up with me was 15 seconds.

I have been in a similar situation, unfortunately the only way to handle it is to deal with it or leave. Being that it is a temp job you are expendable, as you aren't even an employee of the company but the staffing agency. Your boss more than likely is a full time permanent employee, and when it comes down to it, his word will always out weigh yours. He could easliy just say your performance is horrible..etc. Wish I had better advice...but good luck at anycase.icon_confused.gif

As a temp you dont have a strong position to call him on it.
Id call your agency rep and talk to them, its possible there's been a string of unhappy temps thru the place before you and they may have temps in because they cant keep permanent staff.
One of the up-sides of temping is avoiding all the politics and shit that comes with permanent workplaces.

Tell your temp agency person that you want a new assignment.

Your temp boss is creating a hostile environment and trying to use a sales pitch to sell and justify his behavior towards. Simply unacceptable. I would go and speak with the temp agency and see what the policies are. Just because he is a boss doesn't mean he can be flippant and rude in his comments about your personal life especially at work. He should know better and is totally taking his role as boss to the extreme.

Turn him in. Also make sure to document the incidents.

If that's not your pace then I would say just do nothing since it's a temp job and you have the option of leaving it and finding another.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidWith our double digit unemployment rate I wonder how easy it is to be reassigned to another job position....

It might not be all that easy.....

But like I said...silent and expedient solutions are what I'm all about....

Document every action and comment, NOT on a company computer, but in a paper file or on your smartphone thingy, and not on company time.

    It will come in valuable.
