GYM CRUISING

What are the non-verbals signals/body language that I should be aware of - at the gym that indicate a guy is interested. How do I know if a guy is interested? I really can't tell. I belong to a predominately gay gym and everyone scopes each other out constantly, but few actually speak unless they know each other.

What are the subtle non-verbal cues that a guy gives at the gym to show that he's interested? How can I tell if a guy at the gym is interested? I will not go up and talk to him unless I know he's interested - but I can't tell. I can't distinguish if it's my imagination or reality half the time.

How do I give a guy clear non-verbal signals to approach me - if I choose to be pursued? All serious suggestions appreciated...

Try mind-reading. That's a big help for me.

Seriously though, use your eyes. They are the eyes to the soul and all that. If he returns your gaze after you've met his eyes then it means he's interested or you're wearing Aussiebum singlets which are soooo last century.

At some point you could even try talking to him, something inane, no-one's going to mind particularly if it's a gay gym.

" I will not go up and talk to him unless I know he's interested"

I see this kind of fear expressed a lot here. Grow a pair and introduce yourself and give him something to be interested in.

Perhaps you meant to say "I will not go up and talk to him unless I know he things my appearance is worthy."

The most telling sign for me is when you catch a guy's repeated glances (whether directly or in the mirror). If he nervously looks away or, conversely, tries to lock eyes with you, you know there is interest. If this happens more than once, you can be sure he's picking out china patterns in his mind. ;)

    repeated glances, smiles, smiling eyes

of course, you return all of the above

then, if he keeps doing any of the above

finaggle a casual "meeting" to exchange a few words that may lead to a full conversation

a few weeks ago i was in the locker room, of my very straight gym, and this guy comes in. i've never seen him before. we got chatting and as i took my top off he started breathing heavily and came directly over and grabbed my arse. i laughed as it was so unexpected and said, 'jesus, that was forward'. he shot off, i think scared by his own actions.

anyways, i saw him again the other day in the actual gym. i went over and said hi. he mumbled something back and looked terrified. so i left him alone. so what is he, a closet case, maybe got a bf or just regretted what he'd started? i don't know.

i don't think i could stand being in mostly gay gym. all that preening and attitude. and that's just me!icon_wink.gif

If there is eye contact on both sides for more than, oh, 3 seconds, then it's the real deal.

Gee, I feel silly now. It seems I've been laboring under the mistaken impression that gyms are for working out. icon_lol.gif

    Awww, bless, how quaint.

I love going to the gym. You workout, get fit, flirt with sexy men and then get to see them naked in the showers and changing room. Great stuff.

I agree. I don't really cruise at the gym myself but catching a guy looking at me repeatedly in any environment most of the time mean he's interested. The rest of the time its OMG he's gay (it seems this happens more than usual in TX!) or I can't believe he's wearing that. Usually not the latter for me, although sometimes I'll play it up to make heads turn!!

I am a terrible gym cruiser.

I'm generally silent and focused on lifting so people see me as unapproachable generally.

Anyway, tonight at my gym there were not a lot of people so I decided to watch what was going on around me for once (alternative - the usual floor stare while blasting bullet for my valentine or deftones or something) and saw this INCREDIBLY good looking guy. He was a big guy (bigger muscles than I) fairly young I assume (20-26) and just a good looking dude. But I could not tell if he was gay. Some things to consider...

    1. "BIG NAME COLLEGE HERE" FITNESS - sure he could be a trainer but dont most guys rock the foot/basket/baseball/rugby shirt...not fitness...

    2. Shorter Shorts (not super short but just short enough)

    3. Reading OK Magazine in the gym shamelessly - the one with "the wedding of the year" on the cover

    4. "following" my workout. ex) I did dips, he did weight belt dips...I did close reverse grip benchpress he did normal benchpress. so on and so on.

Now I normally chalk this up to normal male challenging (anything you can do I can do better) and am probably protesting on and on about a whole lot of nothing (would I be posting this if I did not find him incredibly attractive??) But still it was interesting.

I mean, what straight guy reads OK magazine in the gym? icon_smile.gif
