Hey guys, just broke into skydiving myself and would love to talk with anyone who loves the sport aswell. If you haven't done it yet I highly recomend it. Took a tandem back in May and it changed my life. Finished my AFF and now working on my A licence. Best thing in the world icon_biggrin.gif
So lets talk if you skydive or are curious about skydiving.

I fly for a living, but never jumped. Met several jumpers, though...used to have a jump instructor as a coworker.

I've highly considered it...been holding it off for some reason. How many jumps have you done so far?

Hey Saberll. I went skydiving - static line - once when I was in college and loved it. I'd go again in a heartbeat if there were more opportunities in my area! Such a thrill!

Right on man! Personally I'm scared of static line, something about it seems alot more of a risk than 13k. Get back into it!

Not sure what it is, something always comes up and on top of that I've been having to move alot in the past months. Maybe my subconscious is afraid and helping me make excuses...I'll have to get something in line.

I've done one tandem jump and it was great. Definitely something I wouldn't want to leave this world without doing.

Right on, yeah its a pretty costly sport but well worth it. Once you step out you will fall in love. I might have to sell a kidney or something for a decent rig icon_lol.gif

Saberii, you in NorCal or SoCal? I'd love to skydive, but none of my friends seem interested. It's not something I'd just do on my own.

I do banner towing...the cute little banner that fly over the beaches.
Money and time is holding me back. Really just time, cause I "could" budget for it, but have other hobbies that take my money.
I work on call mostly, so time isn't always on my side.

Paul- Haha nice! Love those things. Well if you ever feel the need act on it.

So something happened at my DZ today, made me feel out of place. Haven't told everyone that I'm gay here. Not that I'm ashamed I'll answer if asked but I was packing my chute and I overheard two jumpers talking about weird people at DZs. One said "Theres only two rules: 1.) No fags, 2.) If your a fag please see rule one." That kind of hurt. So I was wondering if any other jumpers have experienced any negative things at their DZs just for being gay.

I myself have done 5 free fall jumps, and 1 static line jump. Nothing like letting go of a plane from the outside and just falling. Then when the shoot opens and all is good, it's like the most amazing feeling.

If you've already got an established reputation there, tell those two jumpers to STFU.

I do that at work occasionally when evaluating new pilots who make homophobic statements, then let them know that their homophobia just cost them a job and they owe the company for the evaluation flight. icon_wink.gif

So I'm reviving this thread because I'm bored and I like talking about skydiving icon_wink.gif

I really want to kiss a skydiver in freefall. How much fun would that be.

I'm taking a tandem back next month in NZ..
and i'm so looking forward to doing it!

actually.. i'm already thinking about the money that i'll have to save after that to do the aff course.
is the equipment really expensive to be bought? or is it worth hiring it all times you need it?

Right on man! Tandems are awesome but once you start jumping solo and flying your body you'll never look back. There is a lot of upfront expenses in skydiving. Tandems, AFF, gear, licenses, memberships all occur in the beginning stages of the sport. Once you get those out of the way its relatively cheep. $15 bucks a lift ticket in some dropzones. That being said I just spent over 4k on a new rig icon_lol.gif
