Is everyone here so self centered that they're only concerned with speaking and never reading other's comments? It happens in every single thread, even the short threads. I mean, if the thread is a million pages long I can see it, but it's like no one wants to read what anyone else has to say at all. For instance, in the thread "I'm freaking out and need to vent...", there are at least two different guys telling the OP they hope his friend "gets better soon", only moments after he tells us his friend DIED. And this thread is only 3 pages long. I find this really irritating.

I walked outside a few minutes ago and the area is engulfed in smoke from wildfires burning again.

Oh wait, that might not have anything to do with this thread.

What was the question again? icon_razz.gif

This is why we should be able to delete our own threads. Or at least be able to lock it so that no other comments can be added.

Wow. I had to look at your profile again after that comment to see if you lived here in New Orleans. The reason I'm up is I was awakened by heavy smoke from a huge swamp fire. Thought the house was on fire! I can barely breathe. Now where is that emoticon for coughing? icon_neutral.gif

I noticed this right away when joining here. I think it has to do with how freaking busy this forum is. A good topic is posted and there are several replies instantly. Sometimes you'll even get responses above you while you're typing.

The overall effect is that the amount of reading needed to keep up is too much for anyone to allocate their time to. One of those things where you try to read up to a certain amount and then it's overwhelming so you just don't even try. Then an attitude of "gotta get my opinion out there FAST" takes over and it's all say, no listen.

Smaller, slower forums don't get this as much, and it results in people reading more simply because it's manageable.

This is why we should be able to delete our own threads, or at least lock them for future posts. Just saying.
