I just watch their reveal of the Wii U console and controller and it really didn't wow me as much as when Wii first came into the market. May be it is because we already have a market saturated with tablet type devices rolling out with every single electronics brand name.

Looking back, this is sort of like ipad when it first came out. Everybody says it is no more than a ipod with a big screen. But people swept them out of the store like crazy and it has completely changed the computing landscape. A year later, there are more brands of tablet devices that my fingers and toes combined.

Wii first came out with motion sensing controller and it was a huge success. A triumph which resuscitated Nintendo from near the grave and completely revolutionize the gaming industry.

I will see what creative game designers and engineers can make use of this new console.

What do you think of the Wii U?

actually I thought it would be stupid but after watching the video it looks pretty cool. I like that it's integrated with the tv and not just its own separate entity.

Looks very cool, but what matters is if game designers can utilize this in creative ways. Honestly I think only Nintendo will end up using the tablet controller + wiimote setup well and that third party games will suck. As is the case with most Nintendo systems.

I really think people are underestimating Nintendo right now. People don't really seem to understand what the Wii U is, what it can do, or how powerful it is. Nintendo needs to drive home that not only is it more graphically powerful than anything on the market right now, but that the "tablet" isn't a tablet at all, but more like an additional controller AND viewing portal into the same game world. If used as such, it's almost like virtual reality, because you can use it to see into the game world all around you simply by turning around and stuff. Once people see the extremely creative stuff it can do (besides "we can just put all our HUD stuff down there" cop outs I've been reading from third party devs) people will understand.

There's always a crowd that scratches their heads when Nintendo tries something new, but it's dumb to underestimate the company. The Wii is the only recent console to actually make a profit on the hardware and the DS has been really successful. They haven't really made missteps. Even if the novelty of new peripherals wears out eventually and the games that show up don't appeal broadly to core gamers, Nintendo will probably make a good chunk of change off its decisions.

I gotta hand it to Nintendo. Everyone thought "Wii" was stupid name for a console. And that the Wiimote was utterly dumb and awkward way to play a game. But of course everyone was wrong.

I think the Wii U will be just as successful. Can't wait to try it out.

I finally got Wii U and I love it! The graphics are incredible! Nintendo has come a long way from its 8-bit system.
